Somebody Named Their Kid Ericlindross
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/sto...r.html?ref=rss
Look I know people are dumb, but how can this happen? I might even give a pass if you named your kid Eric Lindross *LastName*, but all one first name?
In other news, Olivia and Ethan seem to be the top names for girls and boys. I actually know 4 couples that have named their baby Olivia in the last year. One even got annoyed that somebody else (a 5th couple I don't know) had the audacity to also name their girl Olivia.
Looking at the top 3 boys names I can't help but notice all 3 are Lost characters. More than likely it's attributed to the fact that Lost has several thousand characters, but it's still funny to me.

I'm out of the top 10! Yay! I'm unique again! Until I get in a room with a bunch of other 80s babies.
Edit: My cousin had a baby last year and named him Logan. My other cousin and I kept making X-men references.

Ya we named our kid Liam. It was a top 15-20 name over the past few years, but now it's #2. We'll be hearing about that in a few years for sure.

What a golden quote:
" Hockey player Eric Lindros may have been the inspiration for one Alberta baby's name."

Personally, I think Ericlindross' parents were quite thoughtful. They not only gave the kid a name that will get him beat up repeatedly, but by misspelling "Ericlindros", they have also giving the bullies an excuse to beat him up.

My wife and I were speaking with a nurse about this list and she told us that they compile the names from the forms that are filled out at the hospital and are not always the "official" names of the babies. If the parents haven't given their child a name prior to leaving the hospital they sometimes put other things in its place. I guess it's a logistical/database nightmare. That's why there are some names on the list like "Boy" or "Girl".
That being said, Kal-El and Lightning are awesome names for your kid.
Also, throwing a "y" into your child's name doesn't make it unique.

How many want to bet that "Logan" was the product of the X-Men and Wolverine Hollywood flicks? Good lord I hope we don't see "Deadpool" in 2012.

I think the standard is "Baby Boy" or "Baby Girl" lastname if no name is chosen/given before leaving the hospital. Friends of ours adopted two newborns and since they would register the birth after the wait period was over - the baby left with "Baby Girl" as the name registered with Alberta Health.
Dear lord, there are some awful names out there - I feel sorry for the kids.

My Liam's eleven, and when my wife and I considered the name - well before he was conceived - we thought we were soooo original.
