Default Blackberry (Bell/Telus unlocked handset) Questions

Hey, just a couple questions,

With the new Bell/Telus network/handset upgrades, are the new Bell/Telus Blackberry's regular SIM card phones like the old Rogers handsets?

Can I now take a Rogers phone, add a Bell SIM card, and use it on the Bell network?? Vice versa?

Yes, you can do this. I had a motorola Q a few months ago and it was unlocked. When I went to the US for work (6 months) I flashed the Q with Verizon firmware and used a Verizon SIM....worked well and was way cheaper than a Canadian plan.

But Bell/Telus always had closed SIM card access? So you couldnt do it before, my question is more focused on whether that has changed and not so much on whether phones are swappable between networks that allow SIM card access?

Thanks though!

Yes, you just have to get it unlocked... cellunlock.net will do it for about $60. I am getting them to unlock mine. Heard good things about them, and its easy to do, they just email you your unlock code. Takes 30 seconds to unlock once you have it.

Then you can put in any sim card.

Claeren.
You have to have an HSPA plan with Bell or Telus. These sim cards are different then what was in the Storm (for example) for European GSM access on World Edition phones on Telus/Bell's CDMA network.

If you have an HSPA plan then you'll have a new SIM, and yeah, you can use it in certain Rogers phones (BB Bold 9000 for example) assuming that the handset is unlocked.
