So here I am on the most beautiful day of our reading break sitting in front of my computer trying to write a 4000 word essay on the Spartan education system and how it affected the Spartan's decision to make their last stand at Thermoplyae .

Never take a Greek and Roman Studies class as your humanities option.

Sometimes I miss my university days, and then I read something like this....

My major is GRST, not so bad, unless you pick topics like yours!

Just use lots of material from Herodotus and Plutarch

It's a good class and the prof is not too boring. The papers and tests are brutal though. I just had a midterm and it was 12 pages of essay questions.

There is a comic book by Frank Miller called 300, if you need some inspiration!

haha would you rather
a) write a 4000 word paper
b) write a 4000 line program
c) jump off the ict building.

I pick c) because of b). =(

I took two, and found the subject material very interesting and the assignments not bad at all (I like essays, though). Avoid Dr. Vanderspoel, though. Nice guy, but dullest prof EVER. He just repeats himself on a single point constantly through the entire class. it got to the point where I would sit down, drift off to sleep, and wake up an hour later to discussion on the same point I fell asleep on. YES we KNOW Gordian might have died by breaking his leg falling off a horse. We caught that the FIRST 29 times. I like him as a person. Just terrible as a prof.

The prime reason I went into engineering back then, not one paper required to be wrote in 4 years.
I rather write a paper then write one of these exams....

Hmm, I can't see it neither, but I've spoken with TOTF before, and we're studying the same fun stuff... perhaps it requires the usage of one of these...?

I get headaches when I stare for too long...

Sigismund-Nielson. She's got a heavy accent, but I grew up in a Danish family so I don't find it hard to understand her.

I had her in 1st year for GRST 205 - she was brutal. No structure to her lectures whatsoever.

Opps.

Sorry, I didnt realize that.

They are not pretty exams. He would strut in one the first day of class and say stuff like "I like to raise the bar..." You know when a teacher starts with that stuff on the first day you are in trouble.

Ask kermitology if you dont believe me......

Ehhhhhhhhhh.

I hate all analog stuff. Its a complete headace for me.

Transistors, Op-Amps, Bode Plots, any thing to do with control systems, inductors, conductors, RC circuits, filters and all that other stuff. Any class tought by Sessay, Potter, Haslett, Minchev or Maundy spells trouble for me.

That stuff makes me so confused. I still dont think I have a firm understanding of the fundamentals of that stuff.

Believe it or not, Programming is the easiest thing for me to grasp. I find the programming exams the easiest (its not easy, but its less difficult then the other ones).

Also I dont mind doing programming labs. They get frsutrating when you have to de-bug but its still some what OK.

I don't mind her. She is a really bad rambler but seems nice and knowledgable, so I let it slide. Her tests are brutal though.

oh yea, she was definately very nice. I guess I hated the rambling - never got to the point.

Our tests for that class were a joke - knew the topics before hand, allowed to bring in a cheat sheet = easy marks. Which one are you in right now? I'll be sure to avoid it!

I'd rather do 4000 word essays then 6 assignments per week, every week, for an entire semester every semester. :P

Especially this damn coarse called Math 309 - Numerical Methods for Electrical Engineers. Anyone ever had to take this coarse? Last question I did, I had to do Stokes theorem in the complex plain between two points on the real axis (+/-ve). Only the real axis didn't exist, so I had to do a rotation of the axis and a change of basis. Now not only did conventional calculus and functions not apply, now conventional arithmatic didn't apply.

Apperently, no other dicipline has to do this stuff except Civil's, who do it as a 600 level PhD coarse.
