Yes these Moto's do run warm. Make sure you have some clearance for the heat to dissipate. They run hot as long as they are plugged in.

It will be Ok

Even non PVR's (DCT 6200 run hot)

I used to have my dvd player sitting right on top of my old Star Choice box, and it got so hot once the unit just shut right down. I just got a couple risers for in between and it has been fine since.

I completely nuked a PVR keeping it in an enclosed cabinet (my TV has an IR relay into the cabinet so I don't have to look at everything in there).

Only when I ripped the back off the whole thing did it get better, $500 for a new PVR later...

Yeah, I had to take the smoked glass doors off the front of my TV stand. With receiver, HDPVR, and Wii in there it was causing problems for both my receiver and the PVR due to heat. I've got my Blu-Ray player sitting on top of the TV so that I could create a little more space between the components in the cabinet. (Yes I still have a CRT, but at least it's 1080i and 16:9)
