Little (Old) Car Audio Help

Just to date not only myself but my car. The tape deck in my car stopped working. No idea why, just randomly stopped. I assumed it was the cassette adapter I use for my iPod. However I changed the cassette adapter and still no luck.

Thoughts, ideas anyone?

What does it do with the adapter? A whole lot of nothing, or does it spit the adapter back out- like a "broken tape."

I don't have a cassette to try it with, so I don't know

The unit acts like it's playing, shows the play symbol (I tried both sides), but no audio. Alas that's the best I can tell you.

Yeah, the next thing would be to try a cassette. If you were in Calgary I would tell you to come by and grab one.

Silly question- but have you verified that the iPod is still working?

I feel like it sometimes. I do have a FM Transmitter, but it doesn't get the same volume. So when listening to podcasts (like CP Radio) or stand-up I can't quite make out what's being said.

I'll ask around. I'm away for univeristy, so the task instantly becomes harder. This isn't the first time you've offered to let me borrow something to solve a problem of mine. I'm thinking I need to move to Calgary just to have you around to fix my problems, haha.

Hahaha, as edivenced by the fact pattern I have (shows it's playing and switched sides on the cassette adapter) I do have it on :P

Time for an upgrade.

From the description I would guess that the belt that runs the tape player is broken (yes it runs a teeny tiny belt from the motor to the spools) no belt means = no turning (i am assuming that the adapter requires the turning to work, i remember that most do but i have been wrong before, twice i believe lol)

Seriously, time for an upgrade or remove the player and take it in to a car audio store for repair (and take it out yourself do NOT have them remove it for you---way expensive for what they have to do)

Option 1) Get a tape for about 25 cents from ebay. Try that to determine if the tape deck is the problem.

Option 2) Buy an used cassette player. You can probably find one from a Tercel at a local auto recycler.

Option 3) Buy a used or new cd player for under $100. Install and enjoy.
