Default Thinking of buying a Free Agent Desk

Thinking of getting one. Seagate Free Agent Desk 1TB for $130.00.
Thoughts, opinions, recommendations, any user feedback.
Haven't backed up forever and starting to get paranoid.

More money sure, but that's my feedback. 10x better IMO.

You could always just download harddrive imaging software.

There was one on giveawayoftheday awhile ago that was excellent.

Can't they be had for less than $120 now? I have one, or the hard drive itself now. My daughter broke the enclosure so now I gotta buy a media bay enclosure. LOL

I use it to store my BluRay rips and stream to my TV.

Is your main purpose to back up your operating system or main files or for storage of files?

Cheapest route would just to use some free software to do your backing up to another drive.

If you want something that will hold a lot of drives, this thing is excellent:

If one-touch backup is so important that the Free Agent Desk/Acer Aspire things are probably better.

On sale @ NCIX for $109.99 until the 23rd

I don't know if Memory Express will honor a price match on that sale.

I find free agents are always overpriced for what they bring to an organization.

I bought a 500 GB Free Agent for $60 on sale last year. They work really well - I also have a 320 GB attached to my computer as well. The 500 GB one is a media back up that I have connected to my PS3.

It's good to see that Seagate provides a full 5 year warranty. I find it hilarious that some third party external drive manufacturers only give you a 1 year warranty, whereas if you bought the hard drive and enclosure separately, you'd have 5 years (or sometimes 3) on the hard drive, and typically 1 or whatever on the enclosure itself.
