This reminds me of a story. When PS3 first came out a buddy of mine bought one. He is not very technically inclined so I went over to play some games and questioned why he didn't hook up through HDMI. So I set it up for him but I had to unplug the HDMI from the DVD player since he didn't have an extra. After I left he plugged the HDMI back into the DVD.
The next day his wife whom I work with calls me and asks me to talk to him because he can't get his PS3 to work and he was litterally about to smash it because he has a bit of a temper. Luckily I did a quick google search and called him with that fix before he smashed it.
But yeah I hook up my PS3 through regular video on my old school TV to play PS1 games because they look so horrible on LCD.
