Brent Krahn - currently the best goalie in the AHL
Sometimes its fun to look at former Flames prospects. It looks like Krahn is doing well early on in the AHL season.
His Stats:
9 GP
8-1
1.23 GAA
0.964 save %
3 shutouts
Too bad injury troubles prevented him from ever having a good look with the Flames.

Good for him. Hopefully, he can make it to the NHL someday. It sucks when injuries screw up a career.

Great news for a guy who just had a horrible string of injuries. I hope he does well.

Just saw this while checking how the Heat are doing. Great to see him doing so well. He might make it to the NHL yet.

Great to see, he sure is resilient after all his injury woes and good also on the Dallas organisation for giving him that second chance... glad he's paying dividends for them (so long as it is not at Abbottsford's expense).

He did get 20 minutes last year. Unfortunately, I think the only way he will ever play in the NHL at this point is as an injury call-up. Nine years later... definitely in it for love of the game.

Yeah, it was never a question of talent for Krahn. If he can turn it around with another organization, then good for him.

not to disparage Krahn in anyway, but he makes $105K this year in the AHL; not many occupation were he could make that; pretty good coin to help you love the game

Sure... he does. For now...
Unfortunately the guy cannot do this much longer.
After hockey's over it's time to start a new career. That's tough for someone pushing 40.
What I'm saying is that the money he makes right now can probably offset the money lost as he progresses through the early stages in his next career. Even if he stays in hockey, his days of earning that much are going to be over.

That's a great story. With all the injuries Krahn has had lets hope he gets another chance at the NHL.

Brent is such a well-spoken guy, I could see him having a career in broadcasting afterwards, maybe AHL or WHL.

Yeah fortunately he will do well for himself no matter what he does post NHL. Guy is an absolute stalwart of a man. Smart and well spoken. Too bad injuries ruined his NHL life!

A few Calgary connections too: Krahn, Micki DuPont and Travis Roche for some reason sticks in my mind. Did he get invited to a training camp or something during the "Young Gun" era?

You might also be thinking of Dave Roche...he was a minor leaguer acquired with Wregget.

Sounds about right. I often forget the details during that time.

I don't blame you
EDIT: This must be Dupont's third or fourth time at the Spengler Cup, at least. I know he went once or twice in his first few seasons; it always kinda seemed that Flames prospects, such as they were, were always being hauled off to that tournament. Domenichelli, Dupont, Murray, I think even Tkaczuk and Fata all went over to play for Canada.
