Default TV Freezing, HELP!!! UPDATE

So, I have had Shaw come out to my house to look at my cable twice now.

Here is the issue... When I am watching HD tv, my tv freezes on a black screen for a couple of seconds.

One of the Shaw guys said it might be my TV but I call Bull@!# on that.

The "freezing" never happens on regular definition tv, and it also never happens when watching movies.

I am thinking of buying a new HDMI cable but thought I would panel the minds of CP.

Any suggestions besides haveing the meatheads that work at Shaw come out again.

Thanks

So I called Shaw again last night and complained, they are going to be sending a Senior Tech out to my house to try and resolve the problem.

They also said that once the problem is resolved they will be crediting my account as a result of me not receiving the product that I have been paying for (this was the basis of my complaint)

I will post another update once the Tech comes out to my house

Once again Shaw proves that they have excellent custome service, I just wish they would put the same effort into their product so that I wouldn't need such high quality service

yeah, its not the cable or your tv, its shaw's bandwidth and its a well known problem

happens on different channels, at different times.

if youve already got shaw coming out, have them check the signal strength and maybe install a booster, but even then, it may not help.

try here:

and also, make sure your box has the latest firmware, 16.74 I believe, and its under setup in the menu...

good luck!

So Shaw came out and installed componant cables instead of teh HDMI that I had.

Apparently HDMI sometime interfers with the "communication" between the cable box and the TV.

Shaw came out on Saturday and I haven't had a problem with the TV "Freezing" since.

If anyone is having the same problems you should try changing your cables. It just sucks that I spen $100 on HDMI cables that now don't work.

Do you like the component picture?

I switched from component to HDMI/DVI on my Motorola Shaw box a while back and thought the HDMI/DVI picture was significantly better.

Now, I've only got a 30" Widescreen CRT TV hooked up with 1080i (still love the CRT and our TV room is fairly small in depth) but the difference is notable. I don't have any freezing issues that I can think of, but I wonder if it isn't Shaw's hardware giving you the problem? Mine is hooked up with a HDMI cable to an HDMI switch that switches between my Blu-Ray and HDPVR and from the witch to a HDMI/DVI Adapter into the back of the TV. (Sound goes over Toslink to my receiver) As I said I never have any issues with freezing but am technically using the HDMI out.

P.S. I think my total for HDMI cables (3 ft. X 3) the Switch and the Adapter were less than 50$ from Monoprice.

I haven't noticed a drop in picture quality. Not yet anyway
