Anyone follow the NCAA? What is up with Marvin? Pretty solid sophomore year last year, but seems to be struggling this year with no points in 8 games I think.
An early season surprise to me. Baldwin with 7 points already. Just another d-man playing well early this year. After a tough year last year he seems to be playing pretty well for the Heat.

Our drafting has become a lot better in my opinion. We have great young depth at D. A great young goalie in Irving who had a great rookie season in the AHL last year and whos putting up great numbers to start this year and we are finally getting some solid depth at forward.

its pretty much fact that our drafting has improved, Nemisz/Pelech/Backlund are 1000000 times better than fata/saprykin/tzkachuk etc.

Yep. Our drafting sucks big time.
Only four guys playing on our NHL roster right now that Sutter drafted: (Phaneuf, Boyd, Prust and Pardy. Five if you count Gio, whom Sutter signed after he went un-drafted.)
Also, only three other guys playing on our roster that were drafted by the Flames pre-Sutter: (Moss, Nystrom and McElhinney)
That's pathetic......only eight NHLers on our roster that we drafted.....and they all SUCK anyways.
Not to mention that we don't have ANY guys on the farm who are almost ready to be full time NHLers.........like Irving, Backlund, Pelech, Negrin, Van der Gulik, Sutter, Chucko and J.Armstrong.....horrible prospect pool.
How come we never draft any good players like Kane, Toews, Stamkos etc......? I mean other than the fact that we have a competetive team every year and never get to draft higher than 20th overall????

Well Nemisz is doing pretty good, but he is on a pretty stacked Windsor team.

Took a peak at what Ortio has been up to.
In the SM-Liiga (or FNL as you call it) so far only 20 minutes of play in 1 game (the team has played 17), 5 saves, no GA. He's the third goalie for TPS right now. (They have the best goalie coach in Finland btw.)
However, he has also played a total of 12 games in Mestis (one level below SM-liiga) for both Finland U-20 (which isn't really a part of Mestis, but those games are worth points in the standings) and TuTo, another Turku-based team. GAA 2.85 and SV% .918.
He has also taken part in two Euro U-20 tournaments in september and october, playing two games in both tournaments. Wins against Czech (2 GA in 26 shots), Slovakia (2 GA in 10 shots) and Germany (3 GA in 34 shots, best player for Finland), loss against Sweden (5 GA in 39 shots).
Should take part in the Euro U-20 tournament next weekend in Russia.
To sum it up: doing well but nothing spectacular, getting good coaching and training with three different teams (U-20, TPS, TuTo).

U-20 team faces TuTo in TV-game tomorrow. Just wondering which team he is suiting for .

Yet his coach has said hes the hardest working, most consistent guy for the team.
By your logic I can say Chucko is better than his stats say because the farm team is all grinders and yet he has improved his totals each year. If he played with offensive talent he would be a PPG player easily.

Not quite sure why his offensive numbers haven't been great so far this year, but things don't look to be getting any easier for him, as St. Cloud plays two games at North Dakota this weekend (they being the #3 team in the latest USCHO rankings).

If you are talking about undrafted players signed by Sutter I think is is worth mentioning that Wilson who was traded for Leopold who in turn was traded for a certain Dman this off season. IMO that was a good use of an asset.

No need to get snippy. I wasn't discrediting him, just pointing something out.

thats just it you said it yourself... the only reason kane toews stamkos and you can even go as far as ovechkin and malkin is because we were never ranked so low since back in our 9 season playoff drought which even then had some horrible pools to draft out of.
