Default Replacing a laptop hard drive

I picked up a new hard drive for my laptop and would like to replace my existing hard drive with it. What's the best way to copy the entire contents of my current hard drive on to it? I don't have a hard drive enclosure but I do have USB external hard drives that I could use as an interim storage space before moving it on to the new drive. And this would be with the laptop running Vista.

What version of Vista? If you have Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise, there's a really easy way of doing this without any extra tools besides a Vista CD and an external drive.

I know plenty about computers. I haven't imaged a hard drive before but I'm sure I can do it. I just need to know the best software for the job.

Vista Home Premium. But I don't have the CD. It came preinstalled when I got my laptop.
