I am confused what the problem is, you need to transfer your files to your Mac and then to your new ipod?

If that is correct, then either use an external drive and manually transfer your itunes folder to the drive or use itunes to backup all your music to DVD, then import it to the new computer

my understanding is that he can't get it from his old computer since he wiped it clean or something...

my understanding is he wants to go from:

ipod -> mac -> ipod

Not sure how to do that, or my understanding is not right of the initial problem.

If this is the case, then I am pretty sure sharepod will do the trick. Never needed to use it myself though.

De-authorization of the old computer should only affect the iTunes store, not the library. But it sounds like the library is going from a PC to a Mac? Ouch...hopefully sharepod works. Would sound files on a PC (mp3, mp4, whatever) work on a Mac if they were simply transferred?

They should. iTunes might not recognize his purchased songs at first, but once the computer is authorized there shouldn't be an issue. I used Senuti, but that was to pull the songs off the ipod.

Use the most recent version of iTunes, and turn on Home Sharing. Sync the old iPod on the old machine.

Then, on the new machine, you can pull across the entire library via Home Sharing, and have it stored locally. When done, deactivate the old computer, sync the new iPod, and you are finished.
