Default Heat home opener - anyone going?

Wondering if any CPers will be at the Heat home opener?

I'll be rockin' the Flames jersey in Section 109, which I think is on the center line behind the players benches.

I'm hoping to go to a few games this year, but I can't make Friday's game. The commute scares me.

I will do my best! Not sure if I'll be able to sneak my dslr in, but I'll have the cell phone camera.

Hopefully there will be a lot of Flames jerseys in the crowd!

Might as well be. Why in the Hell is Keets starting over Irving? that is sad.

Up 4-2 after two, and an announced crowd of 5100. Not bad at all.

Chucko gets a hat trick, and it's 5-3.

I really don't like this PBP guy.

Sounds like a few growing pains for Aulie and Backlund.

Wow, that is a painful loss. Tying goal with 35 seconds left in regulation, and the losing goal with 5 seconds left. Sounded like Keetley made about 20 saves in the final two minutes of regulation and the Overtime.

Just got home. Below are some notes I made during the game - edited some content for clarification but I left the spelling mistakes alone. Don't hate me. Will upload some pics tomorrow.

Should just mention that I'm not a scout, so don't expect astute observations about the nuances in a players game. I recognize that many of you are much smarter in this regard, or think you are, or both...

Okay, on with the notes...

First Period

First Heat jersey I saw was worn by a tool who had sewn on the Canucks logo underneath the Heat logo.

Biggest introduction cheer for DVG, natch, but for an inaugural game very quiet.

Backlund-sutter-Germyn

Baldwin seabrook

Lund vdg armstrong

Chucko stuart murray
Pelech negrin
Palin aulie

First Heat goal. Shot wide on purpose by Negrin, tipped oin by Grantham

Rampage goal, Stuart anticipated pass whiule s/handed, out of position abd D-man walked right in, top corner blocker side

S/h 2 on 1, Sutter shoots, hits Montoya dead centre

S/h 2 on 1, Backlund tries to deke D and backhands puck at net, draws penalty.

Fight. Bodie, Pelech. Pelech wins big time, Bodie limping as he goesd off. Both players down early, Pelech getd to feet first and rains death from above.

Hollweg nails germyn (interference) no call, next shft Grantham lines up with H, asks him to go but H declines,

Keetley flashes the glove on a nice cross crease passing play

First P over. Sutter impressed me, Heshka played very well for Rampage.

2nd Period

Cunning has laid a couple of giys on trheir ass

Heat goal Chucko s/handed. Took it to the net from the side, totally outmuscled Turris to get to the net. Turris playing point on PP.

Granrtham still wants to go wirth Hollweg

PP Goal Chucko alone in slot. No idea wher Rampage D was on that one

Rampage goal. Hoggan. Nice play taking it through traffic to net, heat player (??) couldn't keep up

Stuart barged in to net, sat Hoggan ob his ass and knocked the goalie down for good measure

Tikhonov also plays point on PP - did he score goal in 1st?

Arena 15 to 20 % empty. For F sake Abbotsford!

Heat goal. Stuart on s/handed 2 on 1 with Murray, keeps and shoots, gets his own (big) rebound. Mpontoya down abd out, empty net goal.

Rampage sloppy in neutral zone, turnovers

End of 2. 4-2 Heat, 23-18 SOG favouring Heat

3rd Period

Rampage PP goal, Heshka from point. Screened shot, no chance

Anf right after Chucko hat trick goal, left alone in fronrt and sweet tip on shot from the point

Turris having riough game, puck over glass and sits for 2

Heat crash the net again, big pile up

Suspect people down the row from me relatives of Rampage player. Maybe local boy Turris?

Bone head play by Aulie, blind clearing attampt right on the stick of Colin Long, and he's in alone.

Announced attendance 5163. For shame, Abbotsford! (Capacity is 7000!)

Hey Hollweg! The 70's called, and they want their muistache back!

Getting rough. Heat penned in for a long time. Keetley coming up big. Cunning running around hitting. The two captions practice hip throws and end up on the ice. Cunning finds a dance partner in Hollweg, but ther zebras are in there immediately. Cunning gets the extra 2.

Rampage ties it with 36 secs to go. Goalie pulled, Lundmark had it on his stick and failed to clear, got too cute with it. This one is on Lundmark.

If it goes to shootout I want Backlund, Chucko, Stuart

Hoggan 3/4 break in OT, tries to deke, but Keets stays with him and makes a HHUGE save

And another after Baldwin gives it up at blue linwe that resyukts in 2 on 1 down low. Gets across and stops it.

And again stpos R player on partial break. Can you let in five and be first star?

Rampage finally sdolve Keetley in OT. Tikhonov finds rthe late man sullivan and beats keets low stiuxk side. Too many bad tuernovers and odd man rushes against

Three stars
1 kulenik
2 pelech
3 heshka

6-5 Rampage final. Final shots 31 43 favouring Rampage

wow I dont want to poke fun at abby but only 5100? were we not told that they had like 4k in STH's? and for being opening night you figure they would sell out at least the first game.

Sutter cannot call these people dumb hockey people like he did in the qc.

I really hope the best for abby and I'm sure king and Co are tired of finding a new home for the AHL team every two years.
