Default Officepools.com?

Anyone know what is going on with Officepools.com? I setup my work hockey pool on the weekend, got no stats, and then today it appears to be down.

Anyone know of a similiar website that I can setup a box selection type pool on?

Their stats processing thingy (technical term) was having issues they said they were aware of, they had posted that they would be installing a software upgrade last night... apparently it went poorly, par for course in IT though, give it a few hours (days?), if they can get their stuff together no website does it better.

For the times it wasn't down in the last couple days, I must say, the new interface \ layout sucks.

They really dropped the ball this year. I won't be surprised if a lot of pools go to other sites.

A pool I am in is usually managed on officepools. It looks it will be moving to poolexpert now because of how bad officepools is. The guy organizing it hasn't paid yet, so officepools will be abandoned.

It's pretty stupid of them to do an upgrade during everyone's free trial.

Even when it was up I didn't like the new office pools set up..

Already paid for this year, but next year I think we will be moving set ups as well.

Hrmm I was just on the officepools site and they said..

A decision has been made to put the old Officepools site back up. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience we have caused you over the last few days. We appreciate both your patience and your loyalty. We will be posting further details on the homepage shortly
But now the site is reverted, they must be in the process right now.

Man I would hate to be working there right now. I've had a site go down that didn't matter and it felt awful.

I dont understand why it doesn't matter? Was that a typo or are you serious? A fail attempt at funny?

Just becuase its about hockey pools it doesn't matter? Pretty sure it employs some folks and it is very possible it may not be able to employ those people anymore if it losses a ton of business... I think they would disagree with that... not to mention my time and others that entered their pool info over the last couple weeks and will possibly have to redo that work...

What a very odd comment to bother making...

No, I think he means that HIS site didn't matter and he felt awful, so it's hard to imagine how much worse it would feel to have an important site go to crap.

lol ... i'm not sure how you're reading it but I'll rewrite my statement.

I would feel awful to work at officepools right now because anytime a site goes down it is a horrible, stressful experience. I myself have worked on very unimportant sites that have crashed and even that is incredibly stressful.

my bad, I was really hoping i misunderstood as I read it as wrong as it could have been, lol. I know what you mean about being stressed when systems fail or a well planned deployment gets screwed by an unknown OMG thing no one thought of... glad to see you meant well

i was wondering why our work hockey pool took way longer to get setup than usual, and they switched from officepools to hockeydraft.ca. seeing this makes sense now

So they say they are going to go to the old site? To access it, do we have to go to officepools.com then click the link that takes you back to the old one? That is very annoying.

I've never tried any of the other free sites but am thinking of doing so because my pool is tiny, and I'd rather give the $20 to the winner instead of setup fees. Does anyone know the main differences between officepools and the free ones?

Hi,

I run http://www.armchairpools.com.

The Dobber has done a short review of our site and the resulting thread has discussion about it and other sites around the internet. You can read it at http://www.dobberhockey.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2280: october-5-2009&catid=24:rambling.

If you are interested in using Armchair Pools, feel free to come by and create a pool and try it out. It's fast to get your pool started and there is a 3 week free trial.

Also, I am happy to answer any questions you might have about the site. You can email me at warren@armchairpools.com

Not to take away from Warren Baker, but Officepools Retro is back!

God I Love this pool... so all you have to do is just go to officepools.com and click on the link at the top that will take you to the retro officepools... and bam you are back in business. QQ.
