Thumbs up NFL Sunday Ticket Discount

Not sure if this can be used in Canada, but I just got some advice on saving a ton of money on the NFL Sunday Ticket package on DirecTV.

A little bird informed me that if you are a current customer with Sunday Ticket auto renewal, call and let DirecTV know you want to cancel Sunday Ticket because you can't justify the cost. They are more than willing to give you a break on the price.

I just called and they took $20 off of the $45 monthly renewal fee. I told them that was great, but could they do anything about the $100 Superfan price? They initially gave me a 6 month credit on my DVR service, saving me $36.

I then asked if there was any way they could bring the Superfan price down any lower, they tapped a few keystrokes and voila! They could waive the Superfan fee entirely!

So my total for NFL Sunday Ticket with Superfan is going to be $150 instead of the customary $400. Tough to beat...

As I understand it, some reps are more open to doing this than others, so if you don't get this deal initially, call back and try another rep.

Television (and cell phone) companies are more than willing to give out discounts, it's just up to the customers to demand them. Make sure you call their loyalty and retentions line and tell them you want to cancel. Just this past month I called Bell and got free rental of an HD PVR for the year ($240) and 30% my entire programming costs for the year.

The Superfan addition gives you:
Every game in HD
Red Zone Channel: Takes you straight to any game when a team is in scoring position, also shows instant highlights of all scoring plays throughout the league.
Game Mix: Up to 8 games on a single screen
Short Cuts: Every play of every game broken down to 30 min.
Mobile: watch live games on your iPhone/smartphone
Online: watch live games on your computer

https://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/conte...s/nfl_superfan

The HD, and online feature are worth the price alone. I also get a lot of use out of the Red Zone Channel when my team isn't playing.

Shaw only offers select games in HD. If thats the case this year I wont be renewing. Of course those "select games" turn up on the regular channels. If they are offering the Superfan thing I'd reconsider.

That's the one thing I love about Bell. Every game last year that was in HD with the NFL Sunday Ticket package.

I always cancel my NHLCI and NFLST after each season so when I phone the next year I ask for the half price deal they give to new customers. They say no at first but when I ask for cancellations they always put it through. Most of the time I pay full pop but get two months free on my monthly subscrption so it works out the same in the long run.

NFL Sunday Ticket is way cheaper in Canada than the US. Unless something has changed I believe I only pay $160 for the season.

Ya that sounds about right. I think I paid $35/month(for four months) or something like that last year.

What does NHL Centre Ice cost in Canada?

I believe it is $170 for renewal rate, $200 for new subscriber here in the States. Centre Ice is the much better value if you ask me.

It used to be similiar if not the same price as NFL Sunday Ticket. I don't get it anymore since pretty much every Flames game is on my regular package. It is a better value since you are getting way more games with NHL Center Ice.

I still remember when about 6 or 7 years ago I use to get sunday ticket for 15 dollars a month. The good ole days.

Now its 35/month which this year it might be 40/month on Shaw. That being said I hate the seahawks and broncos so if I want to watch my fins every sunday gauranteed,I need to get it. It still beats going to the bar which costs more in spending and usually there is no sound till the playoffs.
