There was a Japanese Garden I saw there a few years ago. It was nice... probably only a couple hours of your day though.

Sorry, there is absolutely nothing, not even one decent restaraunt.

I'm not into those sorts of things for entertainment, but I do know of a few things around town
Southern Alberta Art Gallery
Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens
Galt Museum
New West Theatre at the Yates
Just to name a few. I'll add more if I think of them.
If you like Ric's Grill, there is a Rick's grill in the watertower (located at the intersection of 3rd Ave and Mayor Magrath Drive) and lots of other good restaurants... I'm not sure what Vlad is getting at... obviously he's been to a different Lethbridge... we've got like 6 McDonald's, maybe more. Lethbridge is, or at least it used to be, restaurant capital of Canada. It had the most amount of restaurants per capita.
Oh, and this year is the centenial anniversary for the high level bridge, the highest and longest of its type in the world. There must be something going on this summer to commemorate it.
I think you'll miss WhoopAss days... er, sorry,, Whoop Up days... but really you aren't missing anything.

During the olden days, it had the largest red light district west of Montreal. It's gone downhill since then.
Oh wait, there's that mall downtown. It's right next to the other mall.

Drive down to Waterton for the day, if you haven't been there before it is beautiful.
If you like to golf, go for a round at Paradise Canyon.
Go for a beer at the Shark Club, you will appreciate it, your wife probably not as much.

I was born in Lethbridge and moved to Calgary when I was a kid, but I've been back once, anyways, you could:
1. As others mentioned, you could go to Japanese gardens. I went last year, and they now charge a $7.00 admission fee (it was free back in the day). It's cheaper if you have a group of 10 or more. There are also guided tours available, but just going around yourself probably won't last for more than a half hour.
2. Go to Henderson Lake off of Mayor Magrath (or is it Mcgrath, I dunno) Drive, adjacent to the Japanese garden. There you can enjoy a lunch at a picnic table along the walkways, or even rent a peddle boat or canoe at the boat rental shop there. Unquestionably the most scenic, relaxing place in town. Very similar feel to the lake area in the middle of Kelowna if you've been there.
3. Go on a day trip south to Waterton National Park and enjoy the lakes and wilderness...approx. 1 hour drive south. They have a small village there with shops and a restaurant or two, open fields for something sporty nearby, and boat tours on the lake, and just wilderness.
4. hmmm, not much else to do in Lethbridge, downtown is pretty small. There was a restaurant we frequented called Buffalo Bills back in the day, but it's gone. Sadly, I can't recommend much else, as I haven't been to their museum or theatre. A buddy of mine would recommend dorm parties at the University of Lethbridge, but that doesn't help unfortunately. :P
*5. Oh I just thought of a good restaurant. It's O-Sho Japanese restaurant if you like Asian cuisine. Nice decor, and big menu.

New West generally is a good bet for live theatre. The Empress Theatre also may be of interest, and is a short drive to Fort Macleod.

Other day trips in the area are Frank Slide, about 90 minutes west on Highway 3 in the Crowsnest Pass, and Heads Smashed In Buffalo Jump, just north of the interchange of Hwy 3 and Hwy 2.

As a kid, I remember going on a field trip to Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump, but all I remember is the name and the fact that I went. I remember absolutely nothing about the site. Is it interesting?

Thanks, yea I accidentally posted the drive time from Calgary to Lethbridge, instead of Lethbridge to Waterton.

Wouldn't know. I haven't been there since I was a kid either.
But, if I was stuck in the Lethbridge area for a day, that is exactly what I would go see.

I think I would as well. In fact, I think I may go there just for the hell of it one day this summer. I just can't think of one of my friends that would actually want to go with me.

I agree with New West Theatre. Have gone to a few of their shows and always enjoyed myself.

You must mean the old York Hotel...pretty nasty back in the day. The strippers were apparently of the "B" (or maybe the "C" circuit). If you've been there you'll know what I mean.
It was renoed a few years back and is now apartments and a pub.
