I read that a week ago. Don't know when it gets announced officially. Sounds like it will be at McMahon

I haven't watched WWE in years, but would be sure to check this one out.
Don't they have events at McMahon, like, never? And wouldn't the weather be too uncertain to hold it there? Meh...should be fun to check out whether it's there or the 'dome

I used to be a hardcore WWF fan, so if this is in fact true, I will go out to this one for sure.
Having it outside would be cool to.
I remember Wrestlemania 9 at Ceasers Palace in Las Vegas. That one was outside and it was really neat. Damn Yokozuna beat Hitman. I was crushed!

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Having Wrestlemania at McMahon Stadium at the end of March? It will be like what, 3-4 degrees on a Sunday evening?
We've studied this idea in my marketing classes - the industry is on a huge down-swing, and the WWE would be demanding huge profit margins for it to be pheasible, and trust me, it is NOT cheap to set up events at McMahon Stadium unless you're playing football or soccer.
Sorry boys, but it's not going to happen. Just doesn't make any sense.
And besides, if the Hitman shows up, do you really expect him to do anything but sit in the front row? There's still much angst brewing from the '97 Screw Job.

I read it a few days ago and if it's true I'm definately going. I might be living in Saskatoon then so the trip to Calgary would be shorther than it is now.

The Dome? Not likely. It has a capacity of what, 20,000 people? There hasn't been less than 20,000 people since 1985. Besides; the card would have to be heavily dominated by Canadian talent - that means at least one of Jericho, Benoit, Edge, or Christian would have to win major gold. Any storyline for having Wrestlemania in Calgary would need a huge buildup of storylines anyway, probably about 3-5 months worth to get the right flavor of wrestling ready for a card in Calgary. For example, Shawn Michaels would have to be absolutely humiliated at Wrestlemania for the Calgary crowd to go home happy, and that's just one of many limitations this city would have.
And just a reminder, the last show only drew about 6000 people, where in previous years the WWE has sold out. That's an indication of how bad their product is, and how little respect people have for wrestling these days.
Forget it people. We are too small a venue, too picky, and too full of angst to have the WWE consider us for a location.

Ummmm, The last time the WWE was in Calgary was game 7 against the Canucks. I had free tickets to that event and did plan on going, but obviously I didn't so I could watch the hockey game.

I think its a fairly obvious answer, when talking to a member of a Calgary Flames board...hmmm I doubt you'd get much more in any NHL city if their team was in a big game 7.
The largest wrestling target market is a fairly significant NHL target market.
And check your attendance numbers....in the last 12 years, attendance above 20,000 has happened 3 times, and 6 times in the 21 years. So the Saddledome is more than acceptable.
http://www.twnpnews.com/information/wrestlemania.shtml
Was always a casual wrestling fan, now not so much, but there also is no need for 5 months of stories geared around Calgary specificially.
Just bring out the Hart Family for one last hurrah...instant interest in Calgary and in wrestling circles.

That the reason there were only 6000 people was because of game 7 against the Canucks. I didnt even watch it on TV that night until about 11 or 12 because of the game.

Sorry, I misinterpreted the Flames thing. My bad.
But check the attendance records for WWE shows in the last 3 years, and especially during their Canada tour last year in which they came to Calgary. Pretty damn low, if you ask me. They're pulling WCW gate numbers, so try and explain to me why Calgary is any more deserving of Wrestlemania than the next city.
And like I said before, the WWE is going to have to cater to an especially picky crowd, which the WWE has trouble doing anyways with a regular crowd on a nightly basis. I don't see any justification for them to come here, and I've been watching wrestling since I was in diapers.
Browna - Bring out the Hart family is not why I would go to Wrestlemania; If I wanted to see the Hart family, I can go to local events they participate in, including, on occasion, the local wrestling scene. Hell, I can go see Bret Hart as the Genie in his Aladdin play, so the Harts showing their faces are no dice for me.
