Default Canon-Mac Connection issue

So i own a Canon Powershot SD1000, but recently my HD crashed on my macbook and now I can't connect my camera to my new HD.

I went to the canon website to download the driver, but they only offer the Updater. Since I don't have the original Imageviewer software, I can't update anything, so I can't connect my camera! (I don't have the CD with me).

Any help?
TIA

how are your bit torrent skills? I can't remember why but once I needed the disc that came with my camera and the pirate bay was the only place I could find it.

You can't import the pictures directly into iPhoto?

How do macs work exactly. Does the camera not show up simply as a storage device on the computer that you can get the pictures off?

That's how it should work, and it shouldn't need drivers either. That's how mine worked, but then again I was using a different cannon camera.

To the OP, have you thought of getting a USB card reader? I realize recommending you buy something to fix your problem is a weak solution, but they really help with the speed of file transfer and your camera's battery life with thank you.
