Default Fireball in the sky - March 31, 2009 6:30 am

Did anyone see something odd in the sky this morning? As my wife and I were driving to work, she said she saw something towards the airport that looked at first like a plane streaking across the sky. But then it kind of popped like fireworks.

I saw it, too. I was walking to the bus stop. I thought it was someone shooting fireworks off or something. Had my iPod on so I didn't hear if it made any noise at all.

Bunch of people calling in to X92.9 saying they saw something too. Reports coming in from different parts of the city.

I know exactly where I was at 6:30 this morning cause I looked at the clock in my car at 6:31, I was headed due north on 84th street in the SE and I didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

There are constantly planes visible as well as stars, although it's nice to see the sun peaking through a bit now at that time.

So I was looking at that exact spot at that exact time and I didn't see anything. Maybe i'm just not that observant, but I like to think I am. Especially since I consider myself a sort of backyard astronomer.

Wasn't there reports of Russian space junk reentering the atmosphere?

Heard on the radio that it was a meteor. And since it burned up in the atmosphere, we remain our own overlords.

They interviewed some guys on the radio. They said it was huge and triangular and flying horizontally and then exploded and disintegrated.
