Calgary Restaurant inspections (link)
Thought this might be of interest. You can look up any restaurant in Calgary to see if there has been any health and safety violations recently.

Awesome site, I use it all the time. Some restaurants you wouldn't think to look up end up having pretty bad issues with food handling, storage and even 'pests'.

Now I'm really curious as to what was in 4x4's "nut sauce" wings.

Wow. I just learned alot more than I ever wanted to know. Yikes. I was at Van's the other day and I saw the health inspector doing her thing... I could tell it wasn't going too well. Looking at that report grosses me out. Glad I only ever drink bottled beer there. I mean, it's no secret that the place is a dive, but that's a pretty terrible health history.

The thing is, every restaurant pretty much has violations.

Whoa everyone. That first link takes to a page listing all the inspections. I wouldn't get too worked up if something is listed there - it lists all inspections, good or bad.
The better page to look at is this one.
http://www.calgaryhealthregion.ca/pu...nspections.htm
This is when an inspection goes so bad that an Executive Health Order gets issued shutting the place down. Even on this list, distinguish between inactive and active, with inactive meaning that they've fixed the problem and had it subsequently inspected again. If anything, it may be better to eat at a place on the inactive list as they've just had their knuckles rapped and are probably still on their toes for the inspector to show up again.
The Active ones, I stay the hell away from.

I use the Vancouver version of this site all the time.
Turns out my favorite local pub (The notorious Kingshead) is structurally unsound.
Having worked in plenty of restaurants, I would say it is almost impossible to be perfect. Things like coolers not being cold enough or meat stored on a top shelf can happen sometimes. Pests to, to an extent.
Take Hulse Haters advice. Also look for more ignorant violations on the inspections, such as open mold growing, or incredibly unsanitary conditions.
In the end, whoever eats at the places with the most violations will probably live longer than the rest of us anyways (but maybe have more diarrhea).

Larf! Go to the "illegal drug operations" and see if you notice a pattern with the last names of the home owners.

Awesome. I just noticed that the Sukiyaki and the Thai Express in Eatons Center were ordered to close (but now inactive). I eat at those places about 2x a week. Well... I didn't die yet so....... This could explain why lines are shorter there, but it might be the construction. I've always been curious to know what the sales hit is for getting put on this list.
How's this for a weird writeup?
Locking of the ladies washroom forcing approximately 50 persons (comprising members of the seniors club, the staff and customers of the hairdressers, food establishment and other businesses) of the Five Harvest Plaza to share one toilet, one urinal and a single hand basin all located in one room without adequate privacy locks.
