Wow, just the way it is stated so matter-of-fact is really impressive to me. I think Sutter making very very clear there is a bigger picture and that players who work hard are a part of it is HUGE for the people in the organization.
People can work harder AND smarter when they know they are not a mindless cog in a machine but instead part of a bigger plan.
It is basic good management practice, but something that is lost in a lot of (most!?) organizations.
