Default Wireless Printer keeps getting disconnected

HP 4380 series printer in my home office.

D-Link DIR-615 Router

As directed by the setup utility I connect via USB and set up the wireless settings on the printer.

Everything works fine until I turn the printer off for the night. Not unplug, just turn off.

the next time I try to use it my pc can't connect and I get printing errors.

However the Router still shows the printer as connected.

I'm drinking more than normal trying to get this working.

I really don't want to admit failure and get a longer USB cable.

CP Nerds......HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does the printer have a sleep mode? If so, try disabling it for troubleshooting.

Hee hee, that's kinda funny.

Ok, so when this happens, I'm assuming you do eventually get it to re-connect? If so, how do you do it?

It seems the printer is forgetting it's settings when you turn it off. On the printer, do you have any kind of network menu?

I run the set up program from HP to change the printer to wireless.

Temporarily connect via USB to transfer the new settings.

Wireless test is passed and everything is hunky dorey.....

Turn the printer off for the night, or till I need it next (could be a few days or more).

Next time I try to print I get failures.

I just dunno.......(cracks another beer)

OK the piece or crap just worked for me......dammit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's odd. So it's working ok now? When you install the drivers, are you using the disk that comes with the printer? Sometimes downloading the drivers from the manufacturers website can clear up odd issues like that.

Did that...

The one supplied with the printer was out of date so I got the latest from HP's website.
