wranglers GDT: Rochester Americans @ QC Flames - 2/13/09

Flames start the weekend with Rochester. They have been a last place team all year, but did take the only previous meeting of these teams this season back in October. They have a power play and penalty kill at the bottom of the league. However, if they manage to make it to extra time they boast a decent 4-4 shootout record and 1-0 in OT games.

flames pull out a 4-2 victory.

went ahead on a nice PP deflection goal by Greentree. Rochester tied it up, but QC went ahead in the 2nd with a goal by adam cracknell.

in the 3rd, chucko had a nice goal on an odd man rush with grinder cam cunning. cunning made a nice pass back to chucko who was able to bury it. after an awful turnover in our own zone by brad brown made it 3-2 late, the flames added an empty netter by greentree.

irving looked good. their first goal was at the far end and was actually the result of some sloppy neutral zone play by pelech. he wasn't to fault on the goal, but he did give away the puck and not get back to allow them to get going in the zone. as mentioned, the 2nd goal was totally brad browns fault. i wouldn't be surprised to see him scratched tomorrow to pay for it.

offensively, the top line was broken up a bit. chucko played on the 2nd line with cunning and germyn quite a bit. though i can't remember who joined greentree and lundmark on the first line. cracknell maybe? also the 3rd line of sutter, peters, and armstrong generated some good chances.
