Appealing my suspension

Whats the status of Sirius these days anyways? Their share price was decimated in December and they were on the verge of bankruptcy last I knew. I live in rural BC in a small town and our radio options are pretty poor. But my subsription would be up in March and I don't want to pay a fee only to have them go belly up the next day.

I think I will try that with XM Radio. I decided I will cancel it, just haven't done it yet. So heck if they offer my a free Boombox then I will keep it. Part of the problem is my portable XM Radio thing is no longer working very well. It never did work when I was riding the C-train and stuff. Which is why I got it. It did work at the office though, and at home. But now since I work at home...

Well since Sirius and XM are now one company, i'd say they are going hang in there. Even if they file for bankruptcy protection, i doubt it will be then end of the company and if they file for bankruptcy then i figure they'll just come out with a new name.

Ok, but we basically have all the same programming now. We share the same satellites. So i'm sure big brothers actions will effect us as well. If they kill the feed to the satellite, it gone from us as well.
Either way, i'm in the thinking that nothing is going to happen.

I don't think that's the case. I now have XM, and any time there is a 2 story building to the south of me I lose signal. Whereas with Sirius not being in synchronous orbit the dropouts were a lot more random.

LOL, I have 12 months left on my plan I called to cancel saying I'm not in the vehicle enough and they offered me a free boombox or home kit.
GREAT SUCCESS!

I'm saying that Canada and the US share the same satellites. Since SiriusXM (US) owns all of them. If the US company goes down then so does the Canadian one. Even if Canada can maintain the satellites, the programming would be gone since it all originates from New York

i just called , not just to get a boombox , but to really cancel .... but what they offered me i couldnt refuse... a new radio, a card to cover the installation cost, an auxillary kit so i dont have to use the fm transmitter, a boombox and i talked them into a stilletto for 39.99 ...... so i had to keep it... i canceled it because my old radio kept acquiring signal half the time and i couldnt really listen to anything

That sounds good and all, but what if all the new stuff comes and you still can't really listen to anything?

Well thats why i went with the stilletto ..... its apparently just my sirius radio that is messed up. Tons of my friends have sirius and they dont have a problem... I think it was probably my sirius antennea because it has two big cracks on it ..... i told sirius that and said but the problem is i have been paying for 2 years and had reception half the time and i am not going to sink anymore money into it if it doesnt work properly. Hopefully it does work , if not i will just tell them it didnt work for me and cancel. I will just be out the 39.00 bucks for the stilletto as they gave me 3 free months of service.

This is one techonolgy I don't have a real good grasp on. Car audo. I got Sirius for Xmas but my car is an 05 Mazda 3, apparently one year before the had the auxillary input for things like sirius and iPod. I listen to it through the wireless FM and the sound isn't that great. I'm not thrilled with the idea of running the 2nd antena towards the back of my car. Is there any way you can have the thing directly wired into my stereo without having to buy a new deck? It has the "Sat" button on it.

Don't have any experience with Mazda's, but I know my dad did the very thing you're asking about with his 2000 Pontiac Montana. My guess is that it is possible, especially if your deck has the "Sat" button on it.
Just take it into any satellite radio-authorized car audio installer (even a place like Future Shop might do it... not sure about this) and it shouldn't be too much trouble.
Hope that helps.

you have to buy another little box to do that, and they are quite costly, at least they were when I looked into it about a year ago. Have you tried changing the fm frequency that the sirius broadcasts through to see if it improves sound any? I found that the default setting usually picks up interference from radio stations that broadcast close to that frequency, but once I changed the frequency it got a lot clearer.

Yep, I have gone through a number of stations. Some do a bit better than others and I think I'm ok with it at times but when I switch back to a broadcasting FM station, I really notice a difference in quality. I mean, if I'm going to pay for radio, I want it as clear as possible. I know some of the reason for that kind of system is you can listen to it anywhere but I don't see the point in listening to music when it's not at it's best or at least really close to it.
Any idea at all what the installation would cost?

to be honest with you going all the way ... call sirius and tell them its full of static on all fm stations... Tell them you wont continue to pay for service unless they will send you a installation card and auxillary kit.... they will send them for free 90% sure.... although i did have a friend who they wouldnt do it for , so he canceled and they emailed offering him 6 months for the price of 1 . When he called in to tell him he would take them up on their offer if they sent him an install card and aux kit they accepted and sent them to him..... installation usually runs 50-90 bucks and the aux kit is 29.99
