Interestingly, the green party was the number 1 searched political party. Followed by the libs and Conservatives.

It would be sort of neat if there were search term results or other nifty statistics that could be bundled for CP. (However I do realize that's a lot of work, and may not be something quickly or easily done)

Because it's faster to type google in a search bar than typing www.google.com in a URL bar. All the above search results are people using google to navigate to a page rather than looking for information on a topic.

So wait, I'm confused. They typed google into the google search to get to the google search? Or is this just ALL search engines?

Canada is a top ten search, that's sort of surprising.

Everyone that I know who is older than 35 all do the following: When they want to go to a webpage, instead of typing in the URL, they type it in the google search box because it's more obvious to them and it's the default page. Then I watch painfully as they click the wrong links in the search result, not bothering to look at the URL's.

I actually do that sometimes

If I'm using firefox, the google tab is inside of a gray border which makes it harder to see what I'm typing, if I need to see what I'm typing. Google.com, OTOH, has more of a contrast (black/white) which makes it easier to see. And keep in mind, Google got as popular as it did, because of its simple front-end interface, rather then all the annoying clutter on yahoo or altavista. (well one of the reasons anyways)

Of coarse now that I'm in Chrome, I just type what I'm looking for into the URL and it will find my search results already.

No kidding. Chances are extremely high that most of the top ten searches actually involve the letters s, e and x. Naturally Google would filter that, since ma and pa don't want to know that their precious little snowflake is searching for midget horse porn rather than doing their book report on Canada.

Just to add, since it is a tangent of this, the top visited pages within Wikipedia from August, the last time this was updated. It's obviously going to be slanted to election stuff. Once you get past the non-article pages, the top viewed articles were 2008 Summer Olympics, and Sarah Palin.

Canada was viewed nearly 500,000 times, ranking 96th overall for all pages, just ahead of a List of sex positions, love and 2 girls 1 cup. We did rank behind anal sex, however.

I'm guessing most of the "Canada" searches are things like the following:

Kinky Sex Clubs + Chicken + Basement + Canada

If you're looking for something on line a lot of times people (including me) throw in the + Canada to make sure they get canadian content.
If this counts as a seperate search I'll bet that's why it's in the top 10.

It is for google.ca but then again I have never googled the word Canada, althought maybe it was in reponse to those darn Canada Flag patches those egocentric Flames team put on their jerseys.

I still dont get this... SO if Google is the default webpage why are these people searching for google? Isnt it already there?

This could be a FFFFFKKKK post...

Guy at computer... google on his screen... typing "G" "O" "O" "G" "L" "E" <enter>

Guy: "WTF I was just there... I want google"

Guy repeats step one...

FFFFFFFFFFFFFKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Edit: One stupid guy sitting at his computer for a day could be the sole reason that google is one of the top 10 searched words.....

Because they are unaware how the internet works. They think to get to a webpage they HAVE to type it into the only field box they know, and that's the google default page that pops up. I agree, it makes no sense, but until you see someone type www.google.com into the google search in order to get to www.google.com without knowing they are already there... ya, it's hard to understand.

What get's me as well is when people put their search terms into the address bar, then they get confused why google pops up.

ARGH
