Not since my infamous and puzzling I like Chris Clark thread of years past have I done anything involving "I like" in the thread title, but I now like video games.

I've never played them much, yes as a kid, and the last system I owned was personally was a Nintendo64 in my early teens, but I find myself playing them more and more. I got a DS last Christmas, and it's great for the commute to and from work, a steady stream of Zelda, New Super Mario Bros, and Tetris have been on it. It's great.

A friend who lives with me has a Wii, and that's been a staple in my house as well, love Mario Kart Wii, and Mario Galaxies. And now recently I've gotten an xbox 360 (gift, but funny story) and I'm really enjoying that too.

I've been playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and despite having a killed to kill ratio of 1:50 I've been enjoying it.

They're a fun little get away for a half hour or so after work.

And I have to say, the 360 is a neat little machine. I have a Mac at home, but I found something called Connect360 and can watch all my downloaded shows on my tv, and all my mp3's. I previously just had a s-video set up for MAC-TV as a set up, but this is a much better solution.

Well that game sounds delicious.

I find the shooting games difficult as hell.

Lego Indian Jones however, is fantastic.

I used to love videogames, but I think I burned out on them in my teens. They now leave me empty and dead inside.

I just seem to have a really hard time finding any games that interest me anymore. I don't know why. That childhood magic is gone.

I traded piano lessons for videogames quite literally in grade 3. I was at home playing Wild Gunmen on my NES with my beloved zapper and threw a tantrum when it was time for my piano lesson and so my mom let me quit piano. That is one of the greatest regrets of my life. I think it's time I traded in my video games for a piano or something.

Oh man get Lego Star Wars!

Yeah despite being an avid gamer, I still can't do shooters on consoles worth crap, I have to play them on my PC.

That said, the single player campaign in Modern Warfare is one of the best single player FPS gaming experiences in a very long time.

Have Lego Star Wars on my DS, what a fun little game. So simple, yet so addicting.

I've finished the first couple levels on Modern Warfare on the easiest setting, and boy you're right about that. I can't believe how... cinematic they've made it.

COD 1 and COD 2 were cinematic as well, just the engine was the more primitive Quake 3 port and they didn't have the shaders. They are both great games as I recall playing through them the first time around I felt the same as many people did when COD4 was their first COD game.

I had the original COD on my computer when it first came out and yea, you're right, totally forgot about it. It was like Band of Brothers: The Video Game.

When I was a kid I played tons of Atari, Intellivision, Coleco, NES, Sega and Turbographix but I pretty much completely stopped playing until about 4 years ago. I set aside at least an hour a day to play some games and listen to music or the Stern Show, somtimes with a hockey game on the 2nd TV.

Right now I have almost all the popular consoles except a PS2 and N64, the 360 is definitely my favorite but I do bust out the SNES quite often.

Getting a lot of play at the moment:

Ultimate Ghosts N' Goblins - PSP
MLB08 - PSP
NHL09 - 360
Bioshock - 360

What do you use for emulation of Atari games? or do you actually own a console?

I haven't seen the Atari 2600 for 15 years. Don't know where it is...but actually the entire Atari 2600 library is only like 1MB (each game is 4K) so I have all the games on my NDS. There's an emulator called Stella DS which is decent. It's too bad he never implemented the paddle function so I can't play breakout.

Other than that, I am trying to get a collection of every arcade game ever released and emulate it on MAME but my dream is to build an arcade cabinet with a CRT monitor.

Everytime i play this game im more and more impressed with how well designed it is. Definately by far one of my favorite games.

And if you get bored of the regular game? You just log on and play some stupid custom made levels. Some are well done mind you.

I have about 5k different MAME games that I plan on doing the same thing with.. although my plan involves making the joysticks built into my coffee table and playing on my TV in the living room.

My wife thinks I am really strange, and hopes that I will outgrow that ambition more quickly than I am able to achieve it

I'm with you MMF I like video games too, have done so since Pong really. It's probably (hah) an addiction with me though. I own 2 DS's, 2 PSP's, PS3, PS2, PS, XBOX, XBOX360, Wii, Sega Genesis, N64, Super Nintendo, and a gaming laptop. Pathetic really.....

Thing is I really don't have the time to play as much as I'd like. My kids get to play DS sometimes but I've got stupid adult things that get in the way too much. What's with this real life crap anyway?

I have to agree with Little Big Planet being a superb game. If you hate modern games Hack, although I'm not sure why, you should really check this one out. It's a fantastic blast from the past with modern graphics. The style of this game is second to none.

Katamari is a real fun game. It's completely bizarre but insanely addictive.

MMF, have you tried GTAIV yet?

I experience that video game guilt sometimes too, like I should be doing something more productive with my time. But then I remember its not much different from other mediums like watching TV, so maybe thats a waste of time as well.

I go through phases where I love gaming, and then I don't want to touch them at all for a while. Time is a big factor, but even when I have time, I sometimes try to get into a new game and it fails to really suck me in. Still I like to have a console around, just so I can have the odd game of NHL or play some games with friends. I'm not sure if my disinterest is simply because I'm getting older, or partly because the industry seems to be re-hashing the same old sequels and types of games that we've all played before. You see people get all excited about games like Gears of War 2, but I honestly have little or no desire to play it.
