Default High def tv with xbox 360, framerate problems?

Hey everyone,

I know that there are a lot of people here who know a lot more about high def tvs than I do...

Here is my question, maybe some of you with NHL 09 have the same issues.

I got a new 47 inch high def (1080p) tv yesterday. When I play nhl 09 I find that the game at times for about 2 seconds will just slow down, almost like there is lag. My tv can do 1080p through components which is what I'm using. I even the xbox on 720p just to see if that was the issue, and it occurred. It only seems to happen when there are a bunch of players all in the same spot, this is during be a pro mode as well.

I have heard that it may just be nhl 09 itself.. I tried grand theft auto last night and didn't notice any lag but I didn't play long either..

Anyone have any suggestions?

NHL 09 has framerate issues. And that's the least of my problems playing that game

I've never noticed slowdown to that degree though. Personally I notice the problem occurs more during the replays but not during gameplay.

It's the game itself not your TV. I get that occasionally as well. It's pretty bad when a game has frame rate issues in offline mode.

Thanks for the replies..

Yeah I figured it might be the game because when I tried another it didn't happen.. I'm going to clear my cache and maybe even load the game on my hard drive to see if that helps...

Neither will help unfortunately and don't use the hard drive option if you plan to play online, you'll get connection issues.

Nothing new to add except I dont think you can get full 1080p via component, I think you have to go HDMI - not positive but that is what I remember.

I was having frame rate problems when playing Fable this last weekend, problems that I don't recall having a month ago. I was wondering at the time if maybe it had something to do with the NXE. Installing it to the hard drive seems to have helped, but it takes up so much room I can't imagine doing this for more than 1 game at a time.

Is that because of the xbox or the TV? My tv can go 1080p via component.
I've read that most games for the xbox are only made for 720p anyways...

You can get 1080p through both your HD components and an HDMI cord but I personally prefer HDMI for all my connections when possible. I find HDMI tends to be clearer and sharper, and is much cleaner and easier to set up.

The first thing I noticed when I got my HDtv like you're doing now is the amount of cords that are floating around in the back of the TV. HD cable box, Blue-Ray, Xbox, Wii etc... great to cut down those cords when you can. Between the cable box, blue ray, and xbox that's 9 cords you have to plug in and manage. That starts to become messy. Now with my HDMI cords for those three, it's just three cords to plug into the TV, much cleaner.

Might seem like a small quibble, but with cable box, xbox, blu-ray, Wii, router, and a modem all in the same area it can get messy fast.

Yeah, I like HDMI also. On HDMI you can often designate the TV input to computer and or game mode which gives the best response times.
