Default GAME 15: Rematch RIDERS vs STAMPS

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Last game, the Riders sort of embarrassed the Stamps especially in the first half where Bishop had a good time throwing the ball. The 2nd half, the Stamps made some adjustment but it wasn't enough. Are they going to continue the adjustment?

OFFENSE: Henry Burris did not have a very good game last week. Offense couldn't capitalized on the red zone and Burris fumbled and intercepted on a bad time. Joffrey Reynolds were used only to carry 5 times for 25 yards. He is currently leading the CFL in rushing but might not keep the lead if Cortez refused to mix up plays. Nik Lewis needs one catch to tie Allen Pitts' franchise record of 85 straight games with at least one catch. Ken Yon-Rambo already caught over 1,000 yards this season and hopefully he catch some more to increase his leads in receiving yards. The rest of the receiving corps are Copeland, Thelwell, Ralph, Teyo Johnson(doubtful), and Jabari Arthur. Backing up Reynolds are Summers, Cote and Cornish.

OFFENSIVE LINE: Jeff Pilon is back and ready to play. He did not play for two games due to shoulder injury. Rob Lazeo seems to enjoying being a leader out there playing along with the rookies Tsoumpas, Newman and Archibald. The O-Line might have a tougher time against Sask DLines Kitwana Jones, who had a great game last week, Shultz, Adams and Chick who is coming back after injuries. OLine also has to deal with LLyod who seems to blitz a lot last game. The rest of OLines are Derek Armstrong, and Fabio Filice.

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN: With Mike Labinjo out again for this game, Justin Phillips and Robede will take his spot. Both Canadians will also start the game due to ratio. With Canadian safety Wes Lysack's spot being taken by an import Milton Collins, it means one of the LB or DLine position will be taken by Canadians unless they put backup Howell in a safety position. The always energetic Charleston Hughes and Eddie Freeman will take the other DLine starting spot. The rest of the Dlines are Juwan Simpson, Pat MacDonald, Howard Hughes, and Randy Chevrier.

LINEBACKERS: The LBs were not noticeable last week. Starter Rasheed, Armour and Shannon James should have a good game this game against Wes Cates, Bishop and the gang. The rest of the LBs are Carpenter, Grootegoed, Calixte and Ternovatsky.

SECONDARY: Getzlaf, Dressler and Rob Bagg had a good game for the Riders last week against our secondary especially Calvin Bannister. I guess that's why Bannister is delegated to a backup position and in comes rookie Lenny Walls, who had a stint in the NFL. CB Anderson had a sure INT last week only to drop the ball. It could have been the difference in the game because after that lost opportunities, Riders scored a TD themselves. The rest of secondary are: CB Browner, HB Smith, S Collins, DB Bannister, Raymond and Howell.

SPECIAL TEAM: We all know what Sandro deAngelis. He is the leading in field goal percentage. It's good to see he is leading but it also means that the Stamps were in the red zone way too many times but missed scoring TDs. Burke Dales are always punting well lately while the coverage are always good. Our special team is actually starting to gel together. The returners kicking are always good and punt return are getting better because they are mixing it up with Howell and sometimes Summers.
For the Stamps to win, the offense need to use Reynolds more now that the weather is getting cold. They have to mix it up with running the ball, short passes, then once in awhile try the long passes. The last game, the Stamps did not take advantage of the constant safety blitz by the Riders. With safety blitzing, one of Copeland, Rambo, Ralph, Lewis or Thelwell only plays one-on-one against the DBs.

The defense should play much better with a lot of pressures on Bishop. In the first half, Bishop have lots of time picking his receivers because the 3-man rush Stamps are getting contained. I believed it was rare to see a blitz. The LBs were not used a lot more going after Bishop. Calgary should go full out with 4 man-rush, LB or safety blitz and so on. Stamps need to rattle Bishop and make him run around.

GO STAMPS GO!!

I'm hoping for a Rider win as the Eskimos do not play the Stamps anymore (but hold the tiebreaker) and still play the Riders once so we can get a win there (and have the tiebreaker). It should be a close game. I see the Stamps winning it by 7-10 pts but i'm pulling for a Rider win so the Esks can move on up the standings.

Slight correction. Deangelis is leading in field goal points but Congi is actually the class of the league when it comes to accuracy with 89% compared to Deangelis' 87%

First half is over and Calgary is ahead 21-4. Saskatchewan started really well on the game by having Bishop connecting to Dressler on a one hander catch. Then an interception by Milton Collins at the end zone. A few plays later Rambo just went by Johnson and scored a TD.

Bishop is trying to pick on the rookie DB Lenny Walls but Walls seems to be responding really well and he even got an interception already. Defense is playing well and they been pressuring Bishop all day therefore Saskatchewan only scored 4 points so far. As far as Burris and the offense is concerned, they are playing well. Burris seems to be mixing it up starting with long passes, then running and now he is starting to throw short passes and he is even running himself. Copeland had a touchdown after fooling the DB and good scrambling by Burris. deAngelis missed a 46 yard field goal but he picked up a single point. Before the end of the half Saskatchewan stopped the Stamps on a 1 yard run by Burris.
So far so good and hopefully the defense does not change and keep pressuring Bishop. I also hope Burris gets better and better as the game goes on. Oh yeah Nik Lewis got a reception so he now tied Allen Pitts' franchise record of 85 consecutive games with at least one reception.

Calgary defense 2 interceptions and 1 QB sack as far as I know.

3rd quarter just starting, I see Riders fans walking north (ie-away from McMahon) on the north side of the university. You can hike 'er pretty good and it still takes 15 minutes to walk up here from the stadium. Hahahahaha!!!

Weird. Power outage, and now the ticker on the bottom of the screen is saying that 27-4 in the final score, and the ticker is stuck at this. Wonder what is going on. Hope the feed doesn't come back and the 'Riders have tied it up.

The feed comes back just in time to see the Stamps score another touchdown. Good game by the Stamps on Thanksgiving!

Good time for the feed to come back. The Calgary D looks pretty good this game.

EDIT: Yikes, nasty facemask there.

Stamps played pretty well, but the Riders were absolutely terrible. If the offence had any killer instinct, this could have been 60+ points on the board for Calgary. Now Calgary has the big advantage with the 2 point 1st place lead and only 3 games to go, especially with Wpg - Ham - BC as their last 3 opponents. I like the odds on that.

That was some a$% whooping!! Defense came up big today and Bishop and Durant doesn't know what hit them. See, that's why I was so puzzled everytime Chris Jones abandons the QB pressures like doing a 3-man rush. Look what happenned when they pressured Bishop and Durant, those guys are always in a rush to throw the ball. Same goes to the offense when they don't mix up the plays and just rely on the passing. This is the type of game Calgary should play all the time except that they need to capitalize on their chances. I really think Calgary can be the best team in the CFL if they play consistently. Stamps are in first place in the West by themselves and the other 3 are tied for 2nd. 3 more games left with Hamilton, Winnipeg and BC Lions.

The Riders got gipped of their consolation touchdown by that pass interference call, but that was a great game by the Stamps. Awesome turnover differential.

Awesome game by the Stamps. McMahon was rocking.

Too bad some of the Riders fans are sore losers. The minority ruining it for the others.

Wow, that's pretty funny!! Some of those Riders fans thinks they are the saints in the league. Oh well...

I can't wait for the next game and I hope the team plays well again. The only way we are going to lose first place in the West is their own doing. I think 2 out of 3 games will be an easy game to win. Eskimos needs to win all 3 games and Stamps lose one game. Eskimos gets the tie-breaking. BC and Saskatchewan cannot unseat the Stamps in first place if there's a three-way tie. So, I am definitely cheering for every team Eskies plays and same goes to BC and Sask unless they are playing Edmonton.

You know when I checked out this forum, the Riders fans were all over the Stamps fans saying how unclassy we are Stamps fans and they even made up a story about Stamps fan fighting with the cops. Well, well, well... i think it is the other way. It was a Riders fans trying to beat up the cops and I believed they have this on Youtube. I haven't seen the video yet. I heard on the radio as well that the biggest problem (being rowdy and cops having problem with the fans) amongst all the game at McMahon Stadium are games against Saskatchewan Roughriders. Hmmmm.... I like the dedications of Riders fans but there are minorities that are idiots and shouldn't be allowed to drink at the game at all. These guys shouldn't be going to the game because they are ruining the reputations of others.
