this may end up as a rant, but this is something that kind of ticks me off...

this article, and many others, make this huge deal about the fact that the qc flames are a 'developmental' team. while that may be true, i don't see what the big deal is? as a community, the quad cities has a minor league baseball team. they are also just a 'developmental' team but you don't hear anyone bring that up any time they talk about the team. it kind of perturbs me as it seems like they try to make excuses as to why the team might lose or might not be good before it even starts the season.

the funny thing is, our baseball team finishes the season with only a handful of players it starts with. people get called up and moved down all the time. yet, people are still fine with that team being 'developmental.'

just because these guys have a goal of making it to the nhl, doesn't mean we are putting some inferior product on the ice. i honestly believe its just a mental crutch thats being used. then the press makes a team like chicago out to be some bully of the league because they play 1 or 2 extra veterans compared to other teams.

i guess its just friday morning and i am pissed to be at work...

<rant />

wow, the AHL schedule is (understandably) brutal. Back to back to back games to start the season for QC. Nearly every weekend is a double or triple header; I assume its the same for all AHL teams, not just QC

with that type of schedule, you need a good backup and plenty of depth to gaurd against fatigue and injuries

yeah, we have several triples this year. a few of them even involve 2 games in texas and then the third game back in illinois. nothing like a long flight to make 3 games in 3 days even more draining!

Wow I didnt realize that Ryder was on the 3rd line. Well he has to earn Mcgills trust and McGill likes to change lines like I change underwear.
