Default Broken TV

I was watching tv yesterday morning and it seemed to be working all right, but there was a some slight blurring at the top of the screen. I turned it off and a few hours later, turned it back on, to find that the picture was now literally one thin line of colour across the middle of the screen. The sound works fine. I have no idea what happened. I've tried everything I think to try, including the ultra scientific unplugging it, fiddling around with the wires, stuff like that. Nothing worked.

I bought it in 03 or 04, I can't remember. So, it's not terribly old, but not terribly new either. But it's not worth bringing in somewhere to be fixed.

I figure it's a lost cause, I don't think it can be fixed, but I thought I would post this anyways, in the off chance someone knows what is wrong with it, and maybe has some miracle cure.

Called a vertical collapse.

Sounds like your vertical IC is cooked....if you are handy with a soldering iron, you can try re-soldering the contacts and if that doesnt work you can replace the IC for proabably less than 30 bucks...so it is fixable but having someone else do it will likely be cost prohibitive.
