Default so my xbox stopped working

during a game, the screen just blanked out. I just thought the game froze, so I restarted the console and now my TV won't even recognize the signal. When it happened, i could still hear the audio. There are no flashing red lights. But now I can't hear the audio.

Upon investigation, this appears to be a widespread problem. The only fix I can find is that it has to be repaired. Do I have to send it off to xbox? How long will that take?

Anyone have this problem?

So it turns on, but doesn't "communicate" with your tv?

I would honestly try going to get a new video cord for the xbox.

You will be looking at 4-6 weeks for them to fix it...oh and they are brutal to deal with.

Is it still under warranty?

If its not I wouldnt bother paying for it. Next month the prices are supposed to drop dramatically.

I sold my 2 used Xbox when I got wind of the price drop.

Do you have a link to the widespread problems? I have only heard of the RROD problem.

This is a widespread problem. Not as bad as the RROD mind you, but I would guess it's the #2 problem. It happened to my roomate in the same way you described it. He never fully lost sound though. It will cost you approx. $150 to send to them and have them fix it.

If you can find a way to just get new cord (as HOOT mentioned) I would. Not sure if that'll fix the problem, but better than sending your system away.

Here's a leaked screenshot of rumored price drops:

Looks like a $400 elite, $300 pro, and a $200 arcade. Personally I'd go for the $300 pro (as the arcade has no hard drive). These rumors are VERY widespread and I'd wager a 95% chance of truthiness.

I have a question, if your 360 craps out and you send it back for repair, can you pay a little extra to get an upgrade?

Perhaps get back the model with the HDMI port?

Nope, you're stuck with a refurbished system of whatever model you have. I wish you could upgrade cause I would be more than willing to.

I kinda of thought so, would be nice to upgrade but I guess my TV only has a single HDMI port and I'm going to need that for the PS3 whever I buy it.

My 360 actually flashed the 3 red lights once and froze up, restarted and it's been fine ever since. I think I should just send it in, but with NHL09 out in 2 weeks it's not the best time.

Here's a question.

If you had 2 xbox's, and only 1 HDD, could you theoretically interchange them between consoles and still use the same xbox live account?

you can use the same live account, but stuff you downloaded that has DRM (ie. rockband songs, XBLA games...ect) won't work 100% since they are tied to your console id, not harddrive id. If your connected online then things will work no problem, but if your not online, they won't work.

you can transfer the drm from 1 console to another though.

Jayems, let me know if you want to try the new cord idea first, as I have an extra one at home and can bring it to hockey on Wednesday.
