on one of the rogers paper ad, it said $399 for a 3 year contract. one guy on howardforums says bestbuy has an order and it's listed as $199 on a 3 year contract.

Talking to a Rogers CSR today, and a guy in a Rogers store, they both told me they don't quite know a release date or price yet. RIM doesn't like to release with any bugs so they will take whatever time needed to make sure it's right.
The CSR I talked to said your can sign up on Rogers.com to recieve update with any new information they have and also win 1 of 10 bolds.

used it already. Not bad. I like that it comes with wifi, just don't bother using the browser that comes with the device, get third party.

So should I get one of these? Over an iPhone, say?

Well, these 2 devices go two different paths. If you want a multimedia device, the iphone would be a better choice. The Blackberry, though is capable of being used as a multimedia device, isn't really used as one.

I read something about that, but perhaps the guy is in the US. That's the rumored us price ($199). I was really looking forward to it, but that price is way too steep ($399) on a 3 year contract. I guess RIM doesn't have the clout Apple did in applying pressure to Rogers to sell it at a reasonable price. I'll be holding off.

I'm pretty sure I read the Bestbuy part in the Rogers forum on Howardforums.
I was at 2 Futureshop locations and they had dummy models on display with info sheets. Both managers told me it was $199 with 3 year contract and minimum $45 voice+data plan. When I asked them if that was confirmed, they couldn't when they checked their systems. There was a buyout price tag though, which was $679. They said they're expecting a launch on Monday, so I said I'd call back. Both stores said they made a fairly big order, but who knows if all the info was accurate.

I'm surprised he even told you anything, i've asked quite a few people that i know that work in telecommunications in futureshop and bestbuy and they're all like that anything they say would just be a big assumption but i think i'm basing the release on just the fact that some stores have received dummy versions already.
And apparently rogers will be receiving the bold before AT&T

After seeing the price of the Bold, I'm considering staying with Telus for awhile. Anyone purhase the new HTC touchphone yet? Is it worth biting the bullet with Telus and purchasing it for a year then hoping they move to GSM?

Love it...
The video is FANTASTIC.... The sound even from the speak is really really good.. I could easily watch a movie on it No problem...
I like the way the applications are organized, a little different then the other BB's... Streams from youtube and play really well..
It even syncs with my Itunes playlists!!!!!!... yes... my itunes play list syncs to my Bold now. Only problem is any songs I downloaded from itunes store don't play, but any other music I've imported does without a problem.
it's a little bigger physically then the curve, the battery life seems as good or better then the curve so far, but I haven't done too much testing with wifi on and off kinda thing.
It's as "media device" as the iphone for sure, and the video is better from what I can tell but it's hard to know without converting and formating the videos for each device properly.. Reading email is much more "pc" like then it was before, with new new OS upgrades.
LOVE it....

I've had mine for almost 2 weeks now and I'm loving it. First time BB user here, but it's very to use. The only bad thing I can say about the Bold is the browser is slower, compared to surfing on my dad's 3G iPhone.
For those looking to get this phone, it seems Costco has the best deal so far. You get a $w
100 cash card, carry case, and car charger.

Do I have to play with the settings? It didn't seem to be much faster than the BB browser.
