Personally I can't wait for this game to come out. I am actually quite surprised that I haven't seen anybody else create a thread on it yet. It comes out tomorrow and looks absolutely incredible. Graphics are top notch and the storytelling in these games is unparalleled. Sounds like it is Snakes last mission but at this point I am having trouble believing that considering that Kojima has said that he was done with the series with every game before since the second one.

I was hoping EBGames would do something similar to what was done with GTA4, which was a steaming pile of _ in my opinion, but I haven't heard a thing yet.

So am I in the minority here or are there more Sony fanboys in hiding somewhere?

I'm fairly excited for it. MGS 2 was one of my favorite games of all time. MGS 3 for some reason just didn't do it for me. I'm pretty stoked for #4 and will be heading over to eb games after work (probably on a bike in the rain). Should be a good time!

You know, I've heard that from other people as well. I never actually finished it because of time constraints and essentially never went back to try and complete it. But, a lot of people have said that about MGS III.

The last 4 hours of MGS3 are EPIC and it has one of the best video game endings I've ever seen. I urge you to finish it. How far did you get?

Picking up the Limited Edition tomorrow morning when the store opens. Can't wait to play it. I would suggest giving MGS3 another try as well. I really enjoyed the ending. Wish I still owned any of the games because I haven't played any of them in a while. Would love to work my way through them.

I am surprised you loved MGS2 Russic. The majority of people tend to dislike the game, mostly because of Raiden. It is a great game but I think I liked MGS and MGS3 better. I loved the story in Snake Eater.

I'd like to, but it would mean going back to play video games in standard def. on my PS2. HAHAHA! Ya'll will have to give me updates because I can't pick it up until Friday - Going to LA to watch the Lakers!!!

I'll hopefully be getting that this time next week when I'm in Winnipeg. I've been wanting to get a PS3 to go along side my 360 for a while but wasnt too interested in the 40 GB model and was waiting for a bundle that was worth getting. Impresso: You know Raiden didn't bother me all that much. I didn't read a whole lot about the game before I played it, so when I was done I was surprised to see so many people down on it. Raiden was a little fruity I suppose ... I guess that bothered some people more than others.

I should really give 3 a retry. Truthfully I didn't give it much of a chance. I loves me a good ending, so maybe I'll pick it up when I'm done with 4 even though it'll probably just confuse the hell out of me to go in a wonky order.

So I picked up the game this morning but unfortunately I have class until 6:30 tonight so I am going to have about 8 hours of eager anticipation while waiting to play the game. Worst part is I can't skip any of it because I have labs. Oh well, I loaded the soundtrack onto my MP3 player so maybe that will help tide me over until I can play it this evening.

@Russic- Personally it didn't bother me that Raiden was a little fruity. I just found it really irritating that Raiden wasn't Snake. I think that was the frustration that most people had with it.

You can upscale ps2 games on ps3 if you have any model except the 40gb. I just replayed the series over the past 3 weeks and really, the graphics in the metal gear games (even the first one on ps1) still hold up pretty well.

4 hours to go.

I absolutely understand. A lot of people seem to really really love snake and while I think he's cool, his absence for half the game wasn't as blasphemous to me.

Okay, so I haven't played a single MGS game before - is MGS4 worth it?

I only have the 40gig PS3 so no backwards compatibility.

It's worth it. Gameplay wise it's perfect. Even if you don't like the stealth genre you can tackle the game guns blazing. Now story wise you're probably going to get lost. I still recommend playing the first 3(first one will work on the 40gb) but if you absolutely cannot then you should at least check the metal gear retrospective at gametrailers.com.
