Flames prospects camp July 20-27

For those who like to mark that sort of thing down in their calendars.

I saw it mentioned in a piece on the Carpentier signing.

So, this sort of thing is for unsigned juniors, signed juniors and everyone on their first contract, right? From what I recall, NCAA players have to pay their own way there.

Also anything that ncaa players get while in calgary (underarmour, equipment) has to be returned to the team before they go back to college or else they break ncaa rules.

Last year's attendees (as per Flames.com):
G: Irving, Keetley, Lalande, Spratt
D: Aulie, Baldwin, Cole, Jonsson, Negrin, Palin, Pardy, Pelech, Ramholt
F: Armstrong, Boyd, Carpentier, Chucko, Couture*, Cracknell, Cunning*, Didiomete, Donally*, Fulton, Marvin, Prust*, Puustinen, Renaud, Ryder, Seitsonen, Severyn, Sutter, Taratukhin, Van Der Gulik*, Watt

Looks to mostly be a similar group this year (almost definitely no Boyd, Renaud, Ryder or Taratukhin, possibly no Puustinen), but this is likely the only chance anybody gets to see the NCAA foursome due to them traditionally not attending main camp due to NCAA regs and school starting.

I'm pretty sure the CBA has a "first pro contract" provision for inviting guys to these things (or it's become a convention), so the gentlemen noted with asterisks near their names may not be there.

I dont even want to look at that, because someone asked for an eye to be kept on Renaud. So I watched him really closely. Sad.

Ryder actually didn't attend last year - at the time the it was reported it was for 'personal reasons' which was the first hint we had that something was up.

Now that another of the Windsor Spitfire's has been drafted by Calgary, YAY!!

Please Aeneas, if you are going this year, I would appreciate your comments on Greg Nemisz.

I'm thrilled about this pick for a lot of reasons.

just realized it, but my son ended up getting Renaud's autograph on his Flames jersey at that development camp.

Donally & Van Der Gulik are RFAs. Since their rookie contract is now done, I assume that they are not eligible to attend.

the Flames considered signing Per, but the lack of an IIHF agreement detered them;

as for college players, a little reading between the lines suggests to me that Marvin is the only one of any interest (not including new draftees). Button said he had a solid freshman year ; it sounds like he is somewhat similar to Armstrong
