Default Xbox live..help

I have a telus router and X-Box Wireless adapter. I get the "IP Address" failure.....

X-Box support is not to much of a help and Telus won't support Xbox live...

I am told a Telus Router has to assign IP addresses to external devices......

but I guess the quesiton is how do I make the change to allow that to happen?

what is your setup like?

Example, X box wireless device, Telus Modem, ... what else. I assume somewhere you have a wireless router?

If you do web into the router to see what the settings are. The xbox device should dhcp an address from your router.

Ops... good question,

I have a Telus 2Wire router (yep it provides a WIFI signal..), the Xbox has a Wireless Adaptor.

I have connected from a Wireless stand point. When I run the Xbox live test I get to the third line which is the IP Address Failure.

When I get home I will look into the MAC Address thread....

It's possible you just need to re-start your router (power off, way a few secs and power on again) for it to assign an IP address to your xbox. Problems like this are usually easy to fix.

If you do any MAC filtering, you will obviously need to add the MAC addie of the 360 to your router, if you have encrypted your WAP on your router, you will have to enter the network key into the xbox.

I hard connect mine (kinda anal, any gamin device on my network gets a hard connection). That being said, what is the performance of the wireless devices like, the 360 adapter have good range?
