Default Help With Yahoo Pipes

Anyone have experience with Pipes? I'm trying to create an RSS feed for a particular author on a small town newspaper website. Basically, I want a feed to follow the works of Cst. Douglas Enns on the Ponoka News website (http://www.albertalocalnews.com/pono...y&stories=true).

Here are his two latest columns:
http://www.albertalocalnews.com/pono.../18044934.html
http://www.albertalocalnews.com/pono.../17813289.html

As far as I can tell, there's nothing distinct about the url to his articles and the only way to tell they are his stories is to open each link until you find one with his name in the byline.

I've muddled with Pipes for only a short time and have not been able to come up with even a half-decent solution. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated (especially if you can make a working pipe).

So you are trying to turn his articles into an RSS feed?

Hmm

Closest I could come was: http://news.google.com/news?q=Douglas+Enns&output=rss

The problem being that it only gives one result, while a simple google query returns 3

http://www.google.com/search?num=30&...ws&btnG=Search

(Edit: and not even the most recent ones, at that!)

Thanks for the effort Bobblehead. It's weird that google won't pick up the newer stories.

Actually, I did find an RSS for local news:
http://www.albertalocalnews.com/local.rss

Now you need to figure out how that Pipes application can limit the results bu only returning the feed results with the string "By Const. Douglas Enns" in it.

Looks like that's just for the Red Deer Advocate. There doesn't seem to be an RSS feed for the Ponoka News.

That's as far as I could get tonight. Not sure how to weed out the stuff that isn't written by Douglas Enns. Also not sure about renaming or remapping stuff so that it forms a proper RSS.

A friend of mine tinkered with the above and was able to get a working pipe for only Cst Douglas Enns' materials. Here's a link to the RSS: http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.ru...2e&_render=rss

Now I guess we wait and see if it picks up next weeks stuff.
