Default Buzzing Noise From Bell 9200 PVR

Has anyone ever heard a high pitch buzzing noise come from their 9200?

The only thing that stops it is pulling the plug for a few hours. It's really annoying, and I know that it's not a NORMAL sound.

YES!! At least I think so...I've been trying to find out where it had been coming from for 2 days!

I don't hear anything coming from my 9200.

Edit- just remembered mine is a 9242. Not sure if that matters or not.

OK.. so the problem didn't start until I changed the system to output 1080i.

I unplugged it for a day and then put it to 720p (and I don't notice any difference which is stupid) and it hasn't come back yet.

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but ever since ExpressVu added their new software to the 9200 about a month and a half ago I no longer have the quick record feature. I have to go into a different menu and choose to record the program only once and set the timer this way. Anyone else have any glitches since the software upgrade?

I have two 9200's in my living room and one in the bedroom and none of them are making a buzzing sound. Checked the one at work and no buzzing either.

Could be just a faulty unit?

That's what I'm thinking. It's something that is spinning, and then it creates some friction I think. When I unplug it I hear the whirring slow down a bit then stop.

Piece of crap I say.. Glad I didn't buy the thing.

Mechanical or electrical buzzing (more of a snapping than a buzz)?

If electrical:

It could be bad grounding. Make sure everything is plugged in correctly (not loose) and this includes your audio and video plugs.

If mechanical:

The fan on the power supply (if there is one) could be bad. It might be possible to get at it and clean the barrings with a non-conductive degreaser. Might make the fan spin a little freer reducing the buzz.

I fix a lot of things here at work with a well placed smack on the side. Works on equipment too.
