Default Xbox 360 Disc Read Problem

A friend of mine's 360 will not read any of his games. When he turns it on, he can access all the menus but the little bar at the bottom says that there is no disc inside. There are no evil rings lighting up, he has only had it 3 months, and I think it gets little use.

A quick google search suggested corrupted save files and to basically delete your hard drive, which brings another question..Can you backup your saved game files at all?

And finally, if you have downloaded content, then erase your drive, will you be able to re-download it with your username or will you have to pay again?

can back up saved games to a memory card.

dlc can be redownloaded free of charge if it's the same user.

remember to back up your profile

Good deal. Thanks Choy. Just hope it's not some laser problem or something that has to be sent in to fix.

Try disconnecting the hard drive or memory cards first then boot up the games to see if they work or not.

And purchased downloaded content can be re-downloaded for free as long as it the same user and xbox, I believe.

Before mine got the RROD my logitech remote stopped working with it and there were disk read problems.

Might not be long until you see it.

sorry to hear this. i would recommend that your buddy give the 1800 number a call.

i have no idea what they will say but if the thing is broken you shouldn't hesitate to have your buddy get it fixed.
