Mike Richards
Is it just me or has he gotten really annoying the past couple weeks? All those sound clips are starting to get on my nerves, especially the goal calls by the Lightning announcer. Sure they're bad and totally homerific...but damn, everytime I hear them I wanna throw my radio across the room

I like him, listen to him every morning when I get up and during the drive to work. LOVE Maher in the morning. I have been accused of having thick skin in the past so maybe I'm just a little more tolerant, don't know.

Oh when they just talk I don't mind him, or when they play Flames of our Lives. it's just all these sound bites are starting to go over board since they play them over and over again.

He's the announcer I turn off the most.
Not funny, not interesting but an airhead. So he's got that going for him.

I dont think its Mike pushing the buttons, but then again he surely can tell whoever is to tone down the cheese from time to time.

CM, I'd be more specific in your criticism because Mike does read the boards on some occasions.
He obviously isn't going to please everyone, I haven't been able to listen for a while, but I like some clips better than others (Richards vs. Dopita) and stuff like Armitage gets me really laughing. I actually really enjoy Kerr calling fights.
I like those TB calls actually, I can't remember who it was who swore in the one (color guy), but it was great.

Mike is great when he talks about sports. I like his interviews. And when he is just discussing things with Doug he is really good. And I do like his comedy bits, but his show seems to have gone from a sports show with the occasional relevant comedy bit to a comedy show with a bit of sports to bridge the gap between bits.
Mike - you know sports, with all the people you get to speak with you have insights the rest of us want to hear. How about expanding upon your thoughts?

I love it. For the times that I find bits on his show annoying there is another time when I'm laughing out loud in my truck on the way to work. The odd day I'll find myself turning the station but you can't expect gold everyday.

I like listening to his interviews and the guests they have on, some of the comedy bits are great too. I listen to maher in the morning religoulsly, but find myself flopping stations between richards guest. I listen to the cbc news from 8 to 12 min after during the gigantic commercial loop before peter comes on..

Think it depends completely on your sense of humour. His commercial's are actually right on -- doubt if he cares you are offended and not suitable for everyone. It's hit and miss like all comedy but I enjoy it and there are lots of good guests like Stephen B(liked the old song more though). The straight laced types who want all their sports discusion serious and analytical shouldn't be tuning into this type of show. One wonders why they do when it's so obviously not suited to them -- then they complain? Personally I enjoy a good laugh on the way to work and even though it's hit and miss like all comedy he makes me laugh often enough to tune in on a regular basis.

I love the show. He gets some really good guests and he knows his sports. I also love the comedy. Sure it misses occassionally, but all comedy does.

it was the 15 minutes of commercials every 5 minutes that did it in for me.
Have to agree:
Thank god for XM and O&A (and jimmy!)
edit:
I should clarify: I love the show, just not how little it's actually on the air. I can drive to MRC (15-20mins) and hear nothing but commercials with a quick news break or a little skit. So for me, its not worth it to listen to in the morning. O&A is a much better choice.

I think his show is great.
Sure there are some occasional misses, but that happens to everyone.
Still no other show that comes close to the entertainment value that Richards show provides during the drive in to work.
My only complaint is the epic long commercial breaks.

I've enjoyed him more lately, especially with the addition of Kirkwood. I think his little tidbits make the show much more enjoyable that Rick Laffitt (sp?) the worlds worst straight man...

Amen. The best part of his show regardless if the chatter is about the Flames or not.
As for Richards, I really disliked the show at the start but it has grown on me. I guess I don't listen to it every day so that helps. I've met Richards the man and think he's a good guy - I like his obsession with Chuckwagon racing etc. - and that he's not come here and dissed the Alberta culture but has taken to it and supported it.
