Hank Ain't Smilin' No More
Well...some of you are gonna be happy. Sounds like Burris is done for the year. Separated shoulder maybe? Just as he was starting to hit his stride to...arrgh!

Oh, NO!
We are in serious trouble if thats true. Barker's incompetence in getting some decent talent at backup is going to really show its face now!

Wait to judge Akili after he starts. Don't even know the extent of Burris' injury. So lets all relax first. Burris will get an MRI tomorrow. Will know more then, and if he can't go, Akili will get all the reps with the #1 unit. Every other time he's played was when Calgary sucked early in the year and coming in off the bench is never easy. Give him a week of practice and see how he does.

If he's done this could put a huge monkey wrench into the Stampeders season. No proven backup will come back to haunt Barker.

He's having an MRI on Tuesday. Where did you hear he was done for the season? It's a little early to be making claims like that; maybe we should wait for official word before jumping off the nearest cliff?

Was listening to the post game show on 770. I sure as hell hope they're wrong, but that's what I heard.

It looked really bad, I would not be surprised if its a serious shoulder injury which would put Burris out for the season.
Stamps will need to find another QB, Akli is not the guy IMO.

i heard it is only 4 weeks although that would be almost the whole season.
and calgary easily has the toughest sched. of the league left. BC twice and Win twice, sask once and Mtl once.
this could be a 1 and 5 finish for the stamps if akili doesnt get good in a hurry.
although i will admit as a rider fan i was cheering quite loudly at the pub last night when akili threw that INT on the last drive of the game.

If its only 4 weeks that is amazing, his shoulder looked like it was broken or seperated.

So ironic, the one time Hank looks like he might not turn into a pumpkin under pressure and he's knocked out for probably the entire season.
Akili Smith sucks though, so Barker better be on the phone looking for talent.

I'm not sure how everyone can assume that Akili sucks?
He hasn't even played a full regular season game yet.
Not that I think he can come in and light the league up, but give him a game or two before you pass judgement.

Just don't believe he has enough CFL experience to be a #1 QB, lots of guys from the NFL can not make the adjustment. Hopefully we are wrong and he plays well but in my view he is not the guy.

I thought that was a late hit as well and no penalty was called. It would have been a different ballgame if the penalty was called on that because instead of having Akili Smith try to get a completion in one shot, he would have 3 tries to get in the end zone. The referee totally blew that call.
As far as the injury is concern, I heard Hank will only mis a few games maybe 3 or 4 at the most. It sucks now that he is hot that when it happens. I was one of the people that criticized him when he was playing awful but when he started turning things things around and not trying to put the whole team in his shoulder, I am one of his biggest fan. Last night was not his fault and I have to blame Joffrey's two untimely fumbles. But that's football! Looks like the football gods is on TigerCats's side last night with what happenned in the last 5 minutes of the game. It's also sucks that we lost Burris when we really needed him. I sure hope Akili Smith will go back to his form when he was still playing for the Oregon State. Otherwise we will be huge trouble.

Watching the reply, Moreno starting falling about the same time Burris did. It was just a matter of bad timing as the both were flying to and hit the ground - unfortunately for Burris Moreno landed on top.

Well, the argument can be made that he couldn't make the adjustment to the NFL, either.
He has a strong receiving corps and a great RB. If there is a system he has a chance to do well in, it is this one. Let's just see what he can do before we all call him a failure.

Oh really, a CFL ref? I'm in complete disbelief.
It's why I stopped giving a s*** about that league.

It wasn't a late hit--you can tell in the replay.
That's the risk you take when the QB runs.
Unfortunately a great drive was snuffed out.
