Ea Nhl 08: Demo Xbox Live
The NHL 08 Demo is up on Xbox live..
This game has definitely improved, seems like the best simulation NHL game that EA has ever created..I love the flow of the game, skating is much smoother, player positioning is great. I'm gonna be having a lot of fun with this game this fall.

Is the demo the actual game or the shootout session like 07? Ducks vs Sens or can you pick different teams? Damn work, must go home to download!!
Gonna get this for sure, like the controls in EA's game over 2K's. How about you guys?

Ducks vs Sens, 3rd Period (5 mins) plus shootout if necessary. The game is seriously great. Can't wait to get the real thing so I can tweak some of the options and get it playing even better.

This is pretty damn good, they knew exactly what had to be improved upon and they did it.
Passing back to the point is now accurate and a lot of fun, passing in general and setting up plays, just sweet!

Two thumbs way up
Just finished playing for um.......3 hours
So I got a few periods in, It really just feels smooth, like bayleys smooth, as said before the positioning seems to be great, the AI (your team) seems to go where you would think they should go witch is great.
As for the computer AI, it didn't seem to be that hard to beat, i think in the amount of time i played them they only scored the 2 goals on me, both of witch were not fluke goals as seen in the past( witch is a good thing) maybe I"m just to veteran to play on Pro still.
(thou i didn't score more than 2-3 goals a game)
I only really had the one problem and that was the slow deeking , sure i don't expect it to be lightning quick like it was last year because that's just unrealistic.
But it just felt slow trying to pull the puck from one side to the other maybe a tad bit unresponsive.
I don't know maybe it's me , what about you guys , have any problems ?

The baileys analogy is perfect. Very smooth
I've only played 3 periods so I won't judge much yet, but so far so good. I agree the deking seeems slow, but maybe it just takes some getting used to. It's hard to judge the game until you can tweak the settings and have played it for many hours.
edit: also one thing I noticed that was very good was powerplays. I hate it when you can't set up a good PP and it seems like that won't be a problem this year

^ thanks it just came to me like out of mid air.
But again I agree, I too will need to play with the sliders to see if that helps the quicken up the speed up a tab bit, to a more realistic level at least.
The power play was great to, the ability to have a real life like cycle going really helps move the puck around, you know so you don't just stand there like an idiot and let the D-man ram you down, for real the first time in a while it feels like you have the advantage.
Also another thing that pleased me was when the opposing team was down by a goal and had taken their goalie out, gone are the days where you can just poke your stick out and skate out untouched a score on a wide open net, the computer AI seem to really put the pressure on, cycle the puck well and seems to really try to keep the puck in their possession, it was challenging and fun.
But as fair as the deeking goes, all wait to the game comes out before I make my mind up about that.

I can finally cycle and my players stay relatively still until they're passed to. Setting up one timers is also much nicer. I'm thrilled and I don't even have the full game yet! The game looks and flows well and being a big time geek I had to pause the game to check out the close ups on the players to see how accurate they are. For most of the "name" players its so real its scary. For the role players (Donovan, Neil, Corvo, etc) its not as close but still very good for generic faces.

Just remember guys, the game is at Pro level. Just wait till you get to All-Star and Superstar level and it will feel quite different.
