Why does the CFL suck so bad?
Besides the wnba it has to be the most brutal league in north america. It's like week 5 and there has yet to be a half decent game.Constant blowouts and 6-2 scores at halftime.Penalty after penalty called and just ameteur play and playcalling.I admit to being an NFL guy but in the 80's and early 90's the cfl had it's share of entertaining games. Now they all seem to be slowmoving and brutal.

The NFL is pure garbage.
Pretty sad when the only thing worth watching at the NFL's showcase event are the commercials.

Because the players are terrible? All the good ones are in the NFL. Back in the 80's and 90's there were at least some good players in the CFL. Now they're ALL amateurs who just can't make it in the real big league.

I love the CFL. There are blow-outs in all sports.
I find the NFL slow moving. They run the ball 3 yards, then run the ball another 3 yards, and then run the ball another 3 yards. Then they go for it on fourth down and run another 3 yards.
Usually I just watch my Argos play, but this year I'm watching just about every game.

I used to love the CFL and follow it a lot. I went to every game that I could. Now I love watching the NFL....the players are much, much better and the games are either entertaining or you can change the channel and find one that is.
I still watch the CFL and do go to a few games a year, but it is not anywhere near as good as the NFL, even if the rules are better!

As much fact as people saying that the CFL sucks.
Not sure why facts have to been brought into this thread when the first post (and many after) threw facts right out the window off the bat.

I'm not really a football fan at all but unlike the NFL I can actually watch a CFL game for a while. NFL games just seem to be too dragged on and get boring pretty quick for me.

When I'm looking to have a nap I'll turn on an NFL game. When I'm looking to go into deep sleep I'll tune into a NCAA game. Some of those NCAA games go on for 4+ hours with basically no action.

you must be new here
does the wnba even exist anymore?
if it is brutal(which doesnt describe anything as it is based on personal opinion) then why is it the second most watched game in our country, why has canadian football been alive for over 130 years?
as i said brutal (along with suck) doesn't describe anything and leaves no room for argument other then...no it doesnt haha. if you want to start a thread put some facts and put it in the right forum (other sports!!). you are bashing the cfl based on one game??? or multiple games?
any well run league has its share of bad games. penalties are a result of player mistakes...so what. was this game the most exciting or well played? absolutly not, there have been some blowouts this year, but there have been some good games as well, for example the first two games of the year were great. the games will get better as it is a long season, dont expect these mistakes come playoff time.
also who cares if its 6-2 midway through the second quarter? just because the first quarter didnt have much for scoring(one fieldgoal) doesnt mean the whole game sucked, but you probably turned it off.
im not going to go over the game on here(this is long enough already) but what are you comparing the cfl too? is there a better run 3 down football league? what aspects of the game trouble you?? what could be improved?? you can call play calling amatuer but compared to what? i dont care if its amatuer or whatever as long as its exciting...like that onside kick attempt, was a unique play and almost worked for edmonton.
of course based on your first post im not expecting a very rational argument from you

Agreed.
NFL games I have to record on the PVR so that I can fast-forward not just the commercials but also the huge gaps between plays.

I used to be a fan of the CFL myself and used to think the rules allowed for a more exciting game. Now, I cant even bring myself to watch a half.
The level of play is so terrible, especially since the legitimate emergence of Arena Football as an alternative for college players who havent made the NFL cut. Perhaps with the NFL pulling the plug on NFL Europe, the CFL will benefit from a deeper talent pool. However, Mark Cuban has been talking about a second major league in North America, and perhaps with the fallout of NFL Europe, a "minor league" will be established in the US.
The CFL has just become a last resort circus for mediocre Canadian talent and completely rejected American talent either because the person, on his face, isnt talented enough, the player is a criminal, or the this is the players last chance to make it make to the NFL.
It's a garbage league. Ownership problems, financial problems, the Ottawa circus, third rate talent, and so far the most boring season, makes me hope the league dies and takes it's equivalent, the WNBA, with it.

I don't understand how people can watch college football of any of the leagues.
Ooo, lets have a few teams kick the living crap out of everyone else because they are so stacked with talent, and then have them rarely play one another during the course of a season, if at all - or better yet, have some disputed bowl game selection and the two best teams never play eachother for the top prize. 95% of all college games are complete mismatches, another 2% rare upsets and another 3% teams on equal footing. The only way I could get into it is if I had an alum down in the states, otherwise, it just holds zero interest whatsoever.

The CFL has never been a major league, it's always been a minor league type sport. It's an event where you can go sit in the stands on a nice day have a couple beers and watch something going on for cheap. The rules which force teams to use rosters that are 50% Canadian players have been around forever. I really don't like it when fans call the players mediocre as a lot of these guys are playing because they love the game of football. Many of these guys are taking paycuts to play the game from what they'd make at a full time job. I mean what do you expect, you get what you pay for. If you want better talent pay $200 a ticket like they do in the NFL. They'd never be able to sell that in Canada even if the talent was that good. The competition on the field is better than many give it credit for, it's just that the game looks slow on the big field.
Arena football being on a small surface gives the game a false impression of superspeed. I suppose that helps the players think quicker which in turn might help them in the NFL. But the USFL has failed, the XFL failed, and the next time they try a minor league football league in the US it's going to fail too. With the NFL and NCAA there's too much competition to get another league off the ground.

Agreed. I hate the NFL for being so bloody boring, but at least games are usually games. The NCAA is often like Ali vs. a man with no arms in a boxing match.

Can't one enjoy both the CFL and the NFL?
The athletes in the CFL are just an eyelash away from being in the NFL - still, very elite football players, when you consider how many men play NCAA football.
