Bigfoot risks extinction and should be listed as endangered says Canadian MP

I read about this. The article I saw mentioned the MP doesn't necessarily believe in Bigfoot, but he was pursuing this on behalf of a very fervent constituent.

I am ashamed at how stupid this MP is. Even if he doesn't believe in Bigfoot, he should at least have the good sense not to bring up a stupid waste of time.
Regardless of how many crazy Edmontonians are calling him about it.

Agreed. The whole purpose of elected representatives is to bring the concerns/opinions/needs&wants of the populace to the attention of the government. Even if it's a little strange sometimes.
If it were 1930 and the question of gay marriage or lunar research came up, we'd all be laughing.

I want my MP to launch a independant inquiry into how the government uses chemicals in McDonalds fries to control the minds of the population, it's clearly why everyone votes liberal.

Elected officials are suppose to represent their constituents to a degree. You can't bring up all the issues brought to you by the crack pots and wackos to Parliament. How can there be that many people in Edmonton, not BC where it is suppose to live, but Edmonton, who not only believe in the Bigfoot but believe in it enough to go an advocate it's protection? Maybe I am giving people too much credit, but I wouldn't think that there is a big enough drive for this. There must be other factors (like Daradon said, publicity).
What's next? The United States starting a man hunt for Elvis? I bet there are more people who believe in Elvis than Bigfoot. I think some common sense needs to be exercised badly. I know the minority needs a voice, but come on, it's not like someone rights are being violated or anything of significance needs to be done. Wasting time and money trying to pass a bill about a mythical animal is completely idiotic.

Well--and I don't know how exact Bobblehead was being in his language--but what he said was that the MP doesn't "necessarily" believe in Bigfoot.
Maybe I'm being pedantic, but isn't that sort of like saying "I don't necessarily believe in the Easter Bunny"--i.e. that he's not willing to rule it out?
Any way you slice it, this is idiotic. On the other hand, the Chupacabras DEFINITELY needs to be made a protected species!
