Anybody interested in entering a CalgaryPuck golf tournament?
Option 1 is: Golf c/w dinner ,cart, driving range, prizes, etc. Total Cost = $104 or $107 + GST
Option 2 is: Golf only - no dinner or cart included or any other extras included (this option will be used only if we have less than 24 people interested). Cost is $51.50 for green fees. A power cart, if wanted, costs $30. GST is extra. There will be no dinner with prizes or anything else... just 4.5 hrs of golf.
Option 3 is: "My preference is Option 2 but I will still opt for option 1 if we have more than 24 people "
Golf season is upon us and our beloved Flames are toast for the season so...
I just thought I’d kick this idea out there to see if anyone was interested. I was thinking that a Saturday or Sunday would be the best day to hold an event like this. If you’re interested let me know what day (Saturday or Sunday) that you prefer.
I’m more than willing to get the ball rolling on this is we have enough interest. It looks like the minimum number of particapants required would be 24.
This would be strictly a "just for fun" event. ... a good time for all and a chance to play some golf and an opportunity to meet some CP members..
I’ve done a little preliminary investigation and gotten some pricing from Heatherglen golf course here in Calgary..
http://www.heatherglengolf.com/page/273-11727.htm
This is the info they sent me:
Option #1:
Event Package - with Roast Beef or BBQ Chicken dinner : TOTAL COST = $104.00 + 6% gst
Event Package Includes: Green Fee (value=$51.50 per person), Power Cart (value=$15.00 per person), Driving Range use, Meal (see below), $8.00 Prizes per person, Gratuity
Carved Roast Beef Buffet
- Aged Alberta “AA” Beef
- Oven roasted potatoes and gravy
- Rice pilaf
- 5 Chef’s choice salads
- Fresh seasonal vegetables
- Buns and butter
- Assorted dessert squares
- Coffee and tea
BBQ ½ Chicken Buffet
- Tender BBQ Chicken
- Oven roasted potatoes
- Rice Pilaf
- 5 Chef’s choice salads
- Fresh seasonal vegetables
- Buns and butter
- Assorted dessert squares
- Coffee and tee
or
Event Package - with New York Steak or Prime Rib dinner : TOTAL COST = $107.00 + 6% gst
BBQ 8oz New York Steak
- Prime cut 8oz New York Steak
- Oven roasted baby red potatoes
- Special fried rice
- Fresh Seasonal vegetables
- 5 Chef’s choice salads
- Buns and butter
- Coffee and tee
- Deluxe assorted dessert table
Carved Prime Rib au Jus
- Slow roasted “AA” Prime Rib
- Oven roasted potatoes and beef gravy
- Special fried rice
- Fresh Seasonal vegetables
- 5 Chef’s choice salads
- Butter and buns
- Coffee and tee
- Deluxe assorted dessert table
Option #2:
I see they talk about being able to call 7 days ahead for a "group booking" which is for 'golf only" if you have less than 24 players
This may be an option if people aren't interested in doing the tournament c/w dinner idea. Cost would be $51.50 for green fees plus $15.00 per person ($30.00 per cart) for a power cart. I recommend a power cart on this course as this is an extremely long course to walk. On some holes there is quite a distance between the green and the next tee-box.
2007 Tournament Policies
Dress Code
Dress restrictions are in effect at all times on the golf course and premises. Work jeans, gym shorts, sweat pants, muscle shirts and offensive “T” shirts are not permitted.
Liquor Regulations
Absolutely no outside alcohol will be permitted on the golf course property. As per the Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission all alcohol consumed on the property must be purchased from HeatherGlen. Any outside alcohol will be confiscated and the offender will be asked to leave the property. This policy is strictly enforced.+
Food & Beverage
All food and beverage products must be supplied through HeatherGlen.
Weather Conditions
Tournaments will be deemed unplayable due to extreme weather only. This decision will be made by the golf course staff and all decisions are final. All banquets must be held as scheduled regardless of weather.
Pace of Play
Maximum time permitted to play a hole should not exceed 15 minutes. This will produce a 4 ¼ hour round. The course marshal has the right to move groups, have players pick up on a hole and remove players from the course.
Slow Play
In order that everyone enjoys their day of golf, HeatherGlen strictly enforces the following policy:
- All groups/golfers must keep up to the group in front of them
- The time to play each hole should not exceed 15 minutes
- Should you fail to meet these requirements you will be warned and could be asked to pick up your ball and move back into position.
Power Cart Usage
The organizer of the tournament must ensure that all participants are familiar with the use of power carts. In the event a power cart is damaged by a participant, the “Tournament” will assume responsibility for the repair of the cart. By signing the tournament agreement form, the organizers agree to hold HeatherGlen and it’s employees free of any liability or claims for the use thereof.

I'm just a hacker too. I figure I've played a good round if I can break 100.
Do you prefer a Saturday or a Sunday?

Sorry for being slightly cheap, but how much are we talking per person here. I'd imagine that it depends on the number of people. But ballpark, what are we talking here?

That's actually not too bad, especially at HeatherGlen. It's usually $60/person incl cart on a normal day anyways.

I'll look into it to see if I can make it. Great idea, but I think it'd be easier to swing (no pun intended) without the dinner. Is it a requirement?

I'd be in, and I know a couple people that would be in aswell. I've looked into local courses for a company tourny and most courses are around the 100-110 per person mark. Lakeside greens in chestermer is alittle bit cheaper and a fun course to boot, think it works out to around 85 per person but don't quote me on that.

I doubt if Heatherglen or any place for that matter would let 25 to 50 people take over their dining room for free.

Completely understandable...
That's probably why I'm not that great a golfer... I can't afford to be... LOL.
I'll let you know. What's the minimum amount of people...25?

I bet with a bit of work we could pick up some free stuff or cash donations from CP members, or the companies they work for... to give away at the tournament. Who knows... maybe somebody here has the juice to get some free stuff from the Calgary Flames? I bet I could scrounge a few free ball caps from the company I work for.

I'd be in, but keep in mind I suck at golf. It would be a fun day though, so I'd be down for fun.
