Default CP Help... Character Recognition

I've got a looong contract that I want to modify. Problem is that I only have the paper copy. The character recognition software in my scanner sucks balls. Does anyone know a place (print shop perhaps?) that I can take this thing to and have it scanned and transformed into a word document?
Or, perhaps some endorsements for some GOOD character recognition software...

Please and Thanks

Two solutions:

El-Cheapo (i.e. Free) http://www.simpleocr.com/

The Best Money Can Buy: http://www.nuance.com/omnipage/

hope that helps.

I remember Readiris working well for me. You also have ABBYY and the already mentioned Omnipage. You might be able to get a 15-30 day, full version demo from some of them.

As for businesses that do this, you could try Kinko's and similar printing establishments, which offer computer design services. It wouldn't be cheap for a long contract, though.

I work in a print shop, and we just use acrobat for it.
It doesn't let you edit within the text, but you can select it all, copy/paste and then edit in your new text file.
Depending on the quality of your original, it does make mistakes, but not too many.

I'd try the trial version and see if it lets you use this feature.

and I think you need version 7 or newer
