Auto Refreshing Message Board

This isn't really a suggestion as much as it is curiosity. But is it possible to have a message that will automatically add the replys to the threads without hitting the refresh button? Almost like a chat, where the replys would just show up right when someone hits "post reply".

Hm, there might be. It would probably involve some code to tell the broswer to refresh the page every so many seconds.

I couldn't see any forum of a decent size adding that though; forum sites already suck up the bandwidth like there's no tomorrow.

I seem to remember the old CP (2003-ish) always refreshed the main forum page every minute or so. I could always see the new replies.

Who knows. Perhaps that was just my browser that did that for me. Photon?

Hm, don't really know as I wasn't that familiar with that software. Would be quite easy to do, but we definately wouldn't want to. The load would just be too much.
