I think I took the Islanders through a pretty massive rebuild...
Average CPHL roster age in 2004-2005 for the Isles was
32 years old.
Names like Andreychuk, Damphousse, Yzerman, Cassels, Corson, Hull and MacInnis were all on my roster at the end of the season...
Fast forward to this year and the average CPHL roster age is
25 years old, with names like Getzlaf, Connolly, Roy, Svatos, Wellwood, Ward and Phillips forming the new core.
My rebuild should have happened at the end of last season, but I got impatient and lost focus near the end when I pushed for the last playoff spot and went backwards which I now regret.
I can't remember specifically who I had, but I remember having Keith Ballard, Marek Svatos, Fedor Tyutin and a few others which were part of my plans, but ended up moving them all at the deadline for Hejduk and a few veterans in hopes of pushing for the 8th spot... didn't work and I had to start the rebuild all over again... Poor GM-ing on my part, but this year I've learned and hopefully can stick to the plan.
