Actually I think that was the exact type of thing the Pope was referring to not liking people doing.

The Pope can **** off. I get so tired of people trying to tell other people that they know better than them and that theirs is the only correct ideology.

It just goes to show that the Pope has very little real influence any more.

And why extremists fight so hard to prevent modern values and morals into their societies.

They dont want to lose power and control like the pontificate has.

I'm pretty sure Carole Pope is in favor of gay marriage.

The pope is one of the biggest mockeries of god and religion. Who cares what some feeble old man has to say about topics that beyond his time and he does not understand.

I agree with everything he said. I'm not Catholic, but I cringe at abortion.

Everything he said? So you agree that abortion laws and same-sex marriage is

are the result of "the exclusion of God from the public sphere."
I'm just asking because I think that the Church should stay far away from politics. An activist pope like this makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Who is he to pass moral judgment on the Canadian polity? We make our own laws, and our own moral judgments, and have done so for years without his help. I don't accept that his church or any church is the source of moral truth--so where does he get off making these kinds of comments?

I also agree with the Pope to the extent that I think gay marriage and abortion are bad. I have nothing against a legal civil union for a same sex couple, but I have a big problem with it being called a marriage. Yes, they need legal rights, but I disagree with such an extreme change to the definition of the word. (And just to curtail another argument, I'm also against divorce, except possibly in the absolute most extreme situations such as one person's life is at risk if they remain married.)

Oi.

A definition of a word in a dictionary is more important than giving people equal rights. I loved Rick Mercer's "traditional definition" sketch.. "traditionally, marriage was between a man and a woman - of the same race. Tradionally women were men's property. Traditionally sons of unmarried women were *******s and needed to be shunned. We need to keep these traditions sacred."

In related news, Brad Pitt has said he won't marie Angelina until the U.S. legalized same-sex marriages. He's no dummy; that's one way to avoid "the committment".

Ummmm who cares?

Really, why does this article even make headlines? Lots of people may disagree with Canadian laws, the Pope is just another one.
