Default Hitmen vs Warriors-Round 2

The 2nd round got underway today for the Hitmen and they beat the Warriors 3-0 to take a 1-0 series lead. IIRC, the Hitmen had lots of success in the regular season vs the Warriors. I was alittle disappointed to see just over 7500 as the announced crowd.

All games are also on shaw tv, game 2 is tomorrow at 2.

Good game by Boyd. Only had one assist, but was a force for the last 40 minutes. Pogge doesn't look he same as he has all season. Wonder if he's tired, having played more minutes than he has ever previously plus the WJC

Hitmen 4, Warriors 3 in overtime. Pettersson with the GWG.

What a game.

yes, very good game. I thought McCardle scored, the puck looked over the line before the net was knocked off, but good fortune for the Hitmen to get that break and score one in OT when they were being dominated

Game 6 in on Shaw right now.

I actually have a Bell satellite, but the coax plugs here have free Shaw! Nice.

Warriors dominated the Hitmen in the first, but Pogge held firm.

Sonne scores early in the 2nd, and Calgary is up 1-0.

Yup, if there is one thing that defines Kelly Kisio's tenure with the Hitmen, it is the lack of killer instinct.

Good call not getting any offense, Kisio. It's not like our goaltender and half our defense wont be graduating this year.

That was an especially bad display by the Hitmen. No 'killer instinct' intensity in this game at all, and the score would have been a lot less favourable if not for Pogge.
Moose Jaw must have won every single faceoff, beat the Hitmen to every loose puck, and won every battle along the boards. They looked great.

There wasn't a game this season for the Hitmen that was 'do or die.' Not even the battle for first place against Medecine Hat. I didn't much like the message Kisio was sending out in regards to that... he could have used it as a real challenge for this team. Instead, he let the team head into the playoffs playing pretty mediocre hockey.

Hopefully the boys finish the Warriors off in game 7.

Better have a full Dome for that one!

Go Hitmen!

So far its 1-0 for the Hitmen on a goal by Keagan Danserau.

Guess who is in the stands tonight? Darryl Sutter! you think he's checking to see how Boyd is doing?

Boyd sets up Mcardle for the tying goal. 1-1 half way thru the second. Good job by Boyd. Makes the pass then drives to the net. Pogge cheats to Boyd and opens up the shortside for Mcardle to roof it

It is now 3-1 for Moose Jaw. Lots of defensive breakdowns by Calgary costing them the goals. This does not look good going into the 3rd period.
Hopefully Kisio has some magic up his sleeve and his players will pull through.

Go Hitmen!

Wow, horrible 2nd period by the Hitmen. Two odd man rushes result in goals including one shorthanded. Now 3-1 for the Warriors.

Kinda mixed feelings here. Hoping for the hometown boys to win, but wouldn't mind seeing Boyd move deeper into the playoffs and gain more experience that way

Man that was pathetic. And I agree with your comments Snake about the killer instinct. I cant believe I just got back from Round 2 Game 7 and feel like i wasted $12 on a ticket.

I couldnt believe some of the Atom mistakes that were being made out there. Pathetic. The reffing was crazy too. I can think of at least 5 penalties, OBVIOUS penalties that were not called. It didnt really favor one team or another but it was pretty bush league.

But I think the team that deserved to win did win. I just wish they had have showed at least a little more effort out there. They sat back in the first after their goal and had their heads up thier asses in the second. The third wasnt too bad a period by way to little way to late. Hopefully a display like that will spark a coaching change. I have thought for years Kisio isnt the man for that job.

At least you only blew $12 Kevan. I'm out about $500 for my season tickets and playoff pack...

Well, I can sum this game, this series and this season up in two words: Fire Kisio.

On the officiating: It is a sad commentary on the state of WHL officiating when Chris Savage is called upon to call a 7th game in the second round. I wouldnt trust him to officiate a Jr B exhibition game, let alone the most important game of the year for two WHL teams. The league needs to figure out how to improve the quality of officiating in a hurry.

As far as tonight goes, I think it is very appropriate that our season ended with Jeff Schultz coughing the puck up on the powerplay to allow the GWG to be scored shorthanded. I think that is the third time this year that has happened. What a terrible hockey player. Sucks to be you, Washington.

The one thing that was truely noticable about the Hitmen tonight was how little the veterans cared. Other than Merkley, most of the energy was being produced by the 16 year olds.

Sadly, there is nothing positive to take out of this season. Choked away the division title. Choked away the regular season title. Choked in the second round.

I can only hope that tonight was the end of an era - or as the Vancouver Province put it - the end of an error. Kelly Kisio has failed. Put him out to pasture, and let this team move forward.

This team has underperformed in the playoffs under Kisio. He may be fine as GM, but get someone who can motivate these guys.

Aint that the truth. I have never been a fan of his. He is slower then molasses in January and is a complete bonehead out there. I havent really seen him improve over the years and I dont see that changing anytime soon.
