5 on 3 in OT is this the new CPHL?
Esche sees 35 shots in his fisrt game back. Canadiens Rally with 3 third period goals, then take overlapping minors in OT. Disappointing loss.

Ugly couple of games the past 2 nights. Outscored 6-2, and to make matters worse Matt Cooke has been placed on IR for a week or 2. Irbe played tonight to give DiPietro a much needed rest. After a great run the Jets have lost their last 2 games.

Back to Back Wins Please Coach

A pair of wins over strong teams has GM Grant Farhall putting on hold his plans to dismantle the team.

Indeed, if not for a lack of time on the part of Farhall, the team may have been dramaticaly changed earlier this week after a series of poor efforts. However, the team looks to becoming together with their wins over Atlanta and NYR tonight.

Farhall commented on the win.

"We had scoring from all lines tonight and great special teams - these are two things we've been lacking all season."

7 players (Lindros, Lang, Richards, Frolov, McGillis, Kalinin, and and Sundin) had 2 point games.

The Wild play next tomorrow vs. the Islanders

Game Notes
- Brad Richards goal was his first as a Wild
- Despite the win the Wild were badly outplayed even strength as no single player had a + rating.
- Eric Lindros and Rusty Olesz were placed on IR after the game. Jason Spezza however will return to the lineup on Saturday.

Flames 4 Devils 3

Flames took it to the big mouth in the Swamp tonight by beating the Devils by a score of 4-3. The win moves the Flames to a two way tie for 5th place overall with the Ottawa Senators, two pts behind the Boston Bruins.

Oneill, Scatchard, Murray and Schneider punched in the big goals tonight with Schneider helping out on two others.
The very hot Mr. Zednick was held quiet tonight after being moved to the top line...so back to the second line he goes.
Tomorrow night, the Flames meet their old friend the Sharks. Flames are riding high and hope that they can maintain their focus and take it to the Sharks.

Goalie Statistics

Miikka Kiprusoff (FLA), 15 saves out of 18 shots, W, 23-9-6
Mike Dunham (DEV), 24 saves out of 28 shots, L, 8-15-4

Power Play Conversions
FLAMES 1 for 3
DEVILS 0 for 1

HAWKS FINALLY WIN A GAME

Finally, after loss upon loss to teams we should beat, we finally beat a team we should beat!!

Patrik Elias apparently was on strike because we referred to him as Patty in the welcome to Chicago festivities. He was an 0'fer on everything tonight.

Saku Koivu gelled right away with Daniel Alfredsson. It is hoped that the duo forms a potent offense that will make opposing teams forget we have no depth.

Due back tomorrow for the game against the Habs is Nikolai Khabibulin. It is hoped that Adrian Aucoin will be back any day.

Caps Legace begins slowly:

Manny legace's first game as a Capital ended on a sour note when he was pulled part way through the 2nd period. MA Fleury entered the game in releif and stopped 8 of 8.

This loss ended the Caps current 4 game winning streak. Many wonder if the nerves got to Legace playing for a team that is surging and expecting him to play top quality hockey night in, night out.

Regardless, the Caps hope to regain their scoring ways with a game against the Red Wings tonite.

Leafs win defensive battle.

Not a very exciting game but the Leafs got it done against the Jets, beating them 3-1. Gionta had what seems like his first multipoint game of the season and Manny Fernandez was solid in goal, improving his record to a whoping 11-31.

On a side note, PM Bouchard saw 0 minutes of ice time for the second game in a row. Is this a message to him? Is a trade coming? Or do the Leafs just keep screwing up their lines? Who knows.
